siding at Benwood, in the county of Marshall and State of West Virginia, have invented certain .new and useful Improvements in' Shaving-Brushes, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to shaving brushes and more particularly to a demountable shaving brush which may be assembled in a manner, when not in use, that will cause the brush to take upa minimum of space and conine the bristles of the brush in a casing whereby they will be protected from dust or other unsanitary elements.

As a further object, the invention contemplates the provision ofa device of this character which will catch the water and lather at its flows downwardly from the bristles when thebrush is being used, thereby preventing the hand vof the person holding the brush while applying the lather to his face, from becoming wet.

The invention further aims to provide a receiving cup of a diameter great enough to catchthe water from the bristles and also with a container which is formed in the handle whereby the water or lather may pass from the cup into the handle or container thus providing for the reception of a large quantity of water.

The above and additional objects are accomplished by such means as are illustrated in the preferred embodiment and in the accompanyingdrawings, wherein like charac' ters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, in which Figure l is a side elevation. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section. Fig. 3 is a vertical section showing the brush in collapsed position. Fig. 4 1s a plan view of the brush as it is shown in Fig. 3.

The handle 1 of the brush is formed of a cylindrical hollow member 2 provided with an end wall 3 which closes one end of the handle thus providing the container 4 for the reception of liquid or lather as it flows from the bristles. One end of the cylindrical member 2 is provided with a tapered4 portion 5 which increases in diameter to provide the enlarged sleeve 6 the purpose of which will be presently described. A receiving cup 7 is integrally formed with the sleeve 6 and is of a diameter larger than the sleeve 6. A cylindrical interior sleeve 8 is adapted to snugly t within the sleeve 6 and one end is provided with the usual cement or hard rubber 9 in which the ends of the bristles 10 are embedded. The circular disk 1l is arranged within the interior sleeve 8 and rests upon the end of the securing material 9. Formed in the interior sleeve 8 is a plurality of apertures 12 which are provided to establish communication between the cup 7 and the container i and from this construction it will be observed that while the person using the brush is applying the water or lather to his face, the water from the bristles which will run downwardly will be caught by the cup 7 and pass into the container 4 where it will be held until .the brush is inverted to dispense the water.

In reduction to practice I have found that the form of my invention illustrated in the drawings and referred to in the above description, as the preferred embodiment, is the most eiiicientand practicable g'yet realizing that the conditions concurrent with the `adoption of my device will necessarily vary,

I desire to emphasize the fact that various minor changes in thedetails cf construction, 1proportion and arrangement of parts may e resorted to,`wh.en required, 'without sacrificing any of the advantages of my invention,`as dened in the appended claims.

I claim:

`l. A shaving brush comprising a tubular handle closed at one end to provide a container, the opposite end of said handle being outwardly tapered, the tapered portion terminating in an exterior sleeve of cylindrical formation und of a diameter greater than the diameter of said container, a cup carried by said sleeve, said cup being integrally formed by enlarging the extreme end of the eleewe..y an interior c ixlnrlrieal sleeve fitted within said exterior sleeve and extending outwardly beyond the end of said cup and provided with plurality-of apertures for establishing communication between the interior of said container and the said cup,
