Another object of the invention is to proyide improved operating means for the slidmg doors of the' nest, one of the operating platforms serving to close the doors and the other serving to open the same.
Another object of the invention is to provide a nest which will be strong and'durable and which can be very easily cleaned and thus kept sanitary.

The housing or body portion com rises the side walls which are formed of rame 10 provided with vertically extending rods or cars 11 and connected by the cross rods 12 which cross rods form the top and bottom andrear walls of the housing. The vertical rods 13 which form the front wall are separated a sufficient distance to provide a passageway clearly shown in Fig. 2 thus permitting the hen to easily pass into and out of the nest.
It is desired to have the doors lt-which are slidably mounted upon the rods 15 and having their lower ends curved and positioned behind the guard rails 15', open and close at the proper'timc and therefore there has been provided pivotally mounted plat formslfi and, 17 which are positionml within the housing in front of the compartment 18 and connected with the doors by means of the lines 19 and 20. The lines 19 extend from the platform 16 and are connected with the outer edge portions of the sliding doors and lines 20 extend from the platform 17 and are connected with the inner edge portions of the door so that when pressure is applied to the platform 16 the doors will be gpened and when pressure is appliedto the platform 17 the doors will be closed.
When this nest is in use a suitable receptacle such as a box or any other receptacle can be placed-in the compartment 18 to hold the straw forming the nest or if desired the straw itself can be directly placed in the compartment. that easy access may be had to the compartment 18 both for removing the eggs and also for cleaning the nest and replenishing the straw when necessary. These doors will normally be opened as shown in Fig. 2 and the hen can therefore pass through the passageway into the housing. The hen will first pass across the platform 16 and will then set upon the platform 17.
