My invention has for its object to furnish an improved gun-lock, simple in construction, easily made, effective in operation, and not liable to get out of order; and it consists in the construction and combination of various parts of the lock, as hereinafter more fully described.
A represents the frame of the gun-lock, which is attached to the stock in the ordinaryY manner. B is the hammer, which is made and attached to the journal of the dog C in the ordinary manner. G is the hammer-dog, which is pivoted to the frame A, and upon a notch in the lower part of the body of which the upper or engaging end of the trigger D takes hold to hold the gun cocked. In a slot or notch in the forwardly-projecting part ofthe dog C is pivoted a short connectingrod or piece, F, upon the. lower end of which is formed a cross-head. The body of the rod F enters a slot in the rear end of the spring F, and its cross-head enters a notch in the under side of the said rear end of the said spring F, as shown in drawing. rllhe spring F is made heavy and strong, and its forward end is securely attached to the forward part of the frame A. The upper or engagin gend of the triggerD is held up again st the hammer-dog C by a spring, G, attached to the frame A, and resting upon a shoulder ofthe said trigger D. His the trigger-dog, which is pivoted to the frame A, and the engaging end of which is held up against the hammer-dog C by a spring, I, attached to the frame A. J is the set-trigger, which, when set, is held by a catch, K, connected with the hair-trigger L. The forward end of the set-trigger J is held up by the springM, connected with the frame A, andwhich rests upon a shoulder of the said set-trigger J.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination ofthe h air-trigger L, set-trigger J, spring M, catch K, trigger-dog H, spring I, hammer B, dog C, connecting-rod or piece E, spring F, hammer B, and frame A with each other, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
