Description
ALBERT'W. BACHMANN, or LAIPORTE, INDIANA.
WATER-HEATER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented-Julyli, 1916.
Application filed August 19, 1914 Serial No. 857,591.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AL ERT W. BACH- MANN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Laporte, in the county of Laporte and State of Indiana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Water-Heaters, of which the following is a specification.
The "invention relates to a heater, and more particularly to the class of water heaters for domestic purposes.
The primary object of theinvention is the provision of a heater wherein the water on entering the same will freely circulate therethrough to insure rapid heating of the same, the heater being of novel form so that it may be placed within any kind of fire for heating water rapidly without sluggish circulation.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a heater of this character which is simple in construction, reliable and efiicient in use, and inexpensive in manufacture.
With these and other objects in View, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described,- illustrated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the drawing: Figure 1 is a side elevation of a heater constructed in accordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is a top plan view thereof. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view. Fig. 4 is a similar view looking in the opposite direction. Fig. 5 1s a vertical central sectional view through the burner.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several.
views in the drawing.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the heater comprises a tubular, annular, or ringlike base 5, a central drum-like or cylindrical head or crown 6 arranged in aplane above the base 5 and supported through the medium of a series of downwardly divergent Copies of thispatent may said base at the inner periphery of this character connecting tubes 7 which establish communication between the base 5 and the head or crown 6, the tubes 7 being joined to the thereof so that water entering the latter will circulate therethrough and-alsothrough the tubes 7 into the head or crown 6, or Vice versa.
Formed on the outer periphery of the annular base 5 is an internally threaded nipple 8, and likewise formed at the outer periphery ofthe-head or crown 6 is an internally threaded nipple 9, the same being similar to the nipple 8, and to these nipples are adapted to be connected the supply and distributing pipes so that water can be conveyed to the heater and distributed therefrom to a house water system.
The heater is adapted to be placed within a fire pot of a furnace or stove, or it may be located above a gas burner so that the same will become heated for the rapid heat- .ing of the water v freely circulating therethrough, the heater being supported in any desirable manner.
What is claimed is In a device of the class described, in combination, a ringlike' bottom member forming a base, a plurality or upwardly converging tubes integrally connected for communication with the bottom ringlike base, an annular head to which said tubes are connected radially for communication with said head' having a flat horizontal top and bottom, an integral inlet connection formed radially of said ringlike tube, and an outlet connection opening out radially of said head in a plane at right angles thereto and reinforcing two of said tubes, said outlet connection terminating in advance of the ringlike tube.
Intestimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
