BUCKLE-SUPPORT.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented ll-1y 11, 1916.
Application filed June 9, 1913, Serial No. 772,666. Renewed December 3, 1915. Serial No. 64,934.
improved means for temporarily fastening a buckle upon a slipper or the like.
Another object of this invention is to provide means for securing a buckle to a slipper or the like by having a tab secured to said slipper and by having said tabengage a detachable buckle, after which said tab has the free end thereof secured to said slipper or the like.
Further objects will be apparent from the following specification, appended claims and drawings in which,
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a pump showing the buckle supporting means fastened thereon, Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing the detachable fastening means used in holding the buckle to said pump,
Fig. 3 is a similar view showing a modified form, and Fig. a is a perspective view of the rear side of a buckle.
As it is frequently desired to have several sets of buckles which may be attached to a single pair of pumps for wear on different occasions, it is necessary that some adequate provision be made to permit said buckles being applied and removed without injuring the pumps as by stitching and that such provision permit quick application and removal of said buckles when desired. I provide a means comprising a tab whicl may be stitched or otherwise secured to the pump which tab engages a cross-piece carried by a buckle and which tab is subsequently secured to the pump so as to securely hold the cross piece of the buckle 1n fixed position with regard to the pump.
Referring to the drawing there is shown a pump 10 which has a tab 11 secured thereto as by stitching 12 and this tab has snap fasteners 13 secured to'th e under side buckle to the pump the tongue 11 is passed between the buckle and a cross-piece 16 and after said cross-piece has been moved below the fasteners 18, the free end of the tongue is secured to the pump by the fasteners 13 and 1 1. The tab 11 maybe modified as shown in Fig. 3 of the drawing in which. a
strip of .material is bent upon itself and stitched as at 18 to form an extension 19 which may be stitched or otherwise secured to the pump as shown at 20. Inthis form the studs 21 are secured to the flap 11 and snap fasteners 22 are secured to the extension 19 as shown.
The application and removal of a buckle to or from a pump is obvious from the foregoing and it is apparent that by permitting buckles to be temporarily secured to a pump, a single pair of pumps may be used for nu i merous occasions.
Various modifications may be made within the scope of this invention without departing from the spirit thereof and Having thus described my invention, I
claim:
1. In combination, a slipper, a tab having one end thereof permanently secured to said slipper, and cooperating securing means carried by said tab and slipper for detachably securing said tab to said slipper at a disv tance from said permanently secured end,
in order to permit a buckle having a securing bar attached thereto to be slipped over said tab to position its bar beneath the portion of the tab between said permanently secured end and the detachable securing means and the subsequent securing of saidv quent securing of said tab to said slipper by means of said detachable securing means.
In testimony whereof I afliX my signature 1n presence of two itnesses.
MILTON M. LEIOHTER.
