To adapt thebinder to hold the desired numher of sheets I have provided means for permitting relative motion of the side menv hers 8 and 9 toward or away from one an otheiy and of securing these members in their adjusted positions. Binders embodying my ,inv t iW movement 0f the members contain any desired number'of tiny-improv d; A mounting iharsy and as illustrated in the drawings, may be adapted to mount sheets having apertures, slots, or as' shown in the clamp .the sheets together to prevent accidental removal therefrom. The convenience of such a system is manifest since it was but necessary to merely lift the desired sheets from the binder, make the desired entry thereon, and replace the sheet over its locking pins. This could easily be done with any sheet of the system since it was not necessary to remove any of the sheets other than the desired sheet. However, the objection to such a system of filing has been that too strenuous a usage of the binder would result in the sheets bulgingbetween the adjustable members so that they would easily become'loosened and fall out of the binder, with apossible loss and disarrange This has resulted ment of the record sheets. in laws being enacted to prevent the use for certain purposes, of loose leaf filing systems of this type. To use a filing system in which the sheets were provided with a series of apertures to be mounted upon a series of stationary pins, would also be disadvantageous since to have access to any desired sheet or to permit of the ready filing of newsh'eets at any desired place in the system, would necesremoving a certain number of sheets from the pins to the place where removal or addition was to be made. This system although having its advantages, in that it complied with the requirements of the law,

' 4 would also have its disadvantages in that it would be awkward and necessitate time consuming operations to keep the system in proper condition. It is to overcome the inherent disadvantages of both of these systems that I have devised the binder herein described.

As illustrated in Fig. 7 my improved binder is adapted to be used with systems employing slotted sheets, ing apertures 23 between the slots 24 of the sheets so that the removable sheet mounting bar of my improved binder maypass through the apertures between the slots to lock' the sheets positively in the binder, thus preventing accidental displacement there- ;from. -Access to and removal of any desired sheet from the binder is permitted without having to disturb any of the other sheets of the system, by simply removing the bar oceupying the apertures of the sheets. When the binder is in use during the time that 'removal and filing of sheets therein is being by merely provid- -ing means of the sleeves to messes done, both

12 and 13 of the bar passing through the apertures 23 of the sheets are removed from the binder so that each sheet may be slipped readily into its proper position or removed therefrom by passing the slots 24 of the sheet over the bars adapted to engage the slots. \Vhen however, the binder is to be filedaway, the sheet mounting bar or bars are passed through the registering apertures 23 of the sheets, and the portions of the bars are then locked in position by bringing the pins 1! into the portions 17 of the bayonet slots of thebar mounting sleeves, as above described. The relatively movable members of the binder are then brought toward one another to properly clamp the sheets together and the tightening means for securing the members in their clamped position are then operated to secure the members together. When the binder is to be again used the tightening means are loosened and the bars are removed by unlocking them from the slots of their mounting sleeves and removing both portions thereof so as to leave the sheets in the binder free to be moved or replaced as desired.

Having thus described my what I claim is:

1'. A loose leaf binder comprising a frame, a sheet mounting bar having itsends removably mounted in the sides of the frame and adapted to be removed through a side of the frame from the outer face thereof, one of said ends being incased within a sleeve secured in one side of the frame, said sleeve and end having cooperating locking means invention,

. adapted to prevent displacement of the bar.

2. In a loose leaf binder the combination of a frame, a slotted sleeve mountedin the frame, a sheet-mounting bar removably mounted in the sleeve, and a pin mounted in the bar and adapted to cooperate with the slot in the sleeve to lock the bar in the frame. 3. In combination in a loose leaf binder, a frame having relatively adjustable members, a telescoping sheet-mounting bar removably mounted in and adapted to be withdrawn through the sides of the members, and means to lock the bar in the members.

4;. A loose leaf binder comprising a frame having relatively adjustable members, a sleeve mounted in each member of the frame and having bar locking means formed therein, a telescopingsheet mounting bar having each of its ends removably mounted in a sleeve, and having means formed in each end adapted to cooperate with the bar 1ock lock the ends of the bar therein.

5. In a loose leaf hinder the combination of a frame having relatively adjustable members, a slotted sleeve mounted in each member of the frame, a telescoping sheetmounting bar having each of its ends rea1saea4 movably mounted in a sleeve, and a pin mounted at each end of the bar adapted to engage the slot in the corresponding sleeve. 6. In combination in a loose leaf binder, a frame, a sleeve having a circuitous slot formed therein and mounted in the frame, a sheet-mounting bar removably mounted in the sleeve, and a pin mounted in the bar and adapted to cooperate with the circuitous slot to lock the bar in the frame. 7

. 7. A loose leaf binder comprising a frame having relatively adjustable members, a

sleeve having a circuitous slot formed therein mounted in each member of the frame, a

telescoping sheet-mounting bar, having each of its ends removably mounted in a sleeve,

and a pin mounted in each end of the bar and adapted to engage the circuitous slot in the corresponding sleeve.

8. In combination in a a. frame having members transversely adjustable relatively to each other, and a transversely extending sheet-mounting bar and adapted to be sides loose leaf binder,

10. A loose leaf binder comprising a frame having adjustably connected members, a telescoping sheet-mounting bar having a plurality of parts removably mounted in and ,adapted to be withdrawn through a side of the connected members, and means to lock the bar in the members.

11. .In combination in a loose leaf binder, a frame having adjustably connected side members, a telescoping sheet mounting bar having a plurality of parts removably mounted in the sides of the frame and adapted to be removed through a side of the frame from the outer face thereof, and means to lock the bar in the members.
