JOHN J. HANSEN, 0F IRETON, IOWA.
COLLAPSIBLE BROODCOOP.
Application filed September 22, 1913.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN J. I'IANSEN, a
The principal object of the invention is to provide a simple device of this character which can be quickly and conveniently knocked down so as to occupy a small amount of space, and which when set up will form a rigid structure to conveniently hold a hen and her brood for shipment.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a side eleva tion of a coop made in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a front elevation. Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse sectional View on the line 33 of Fig. 1, looking in the direction of the arrows; Fig. I is a top plan view of the wall portion of the coop in collapsed position.
Referring particularly to the accompanying drawings, 10 and 11 represent respec tively the two halves of the wall of my coop which are hinged together at the points in dicated by the reference character 12. The
portions of the wall are formed with a plurality of struck up portions 13 which provide ventilating openings 14:. Along the lowered edge portion of each of the members 10 and 11 are formed the inwardly struck up portions 15 which provide supports for the circular diskal bottom 16, this bottom holding the sides in circular form when the coop is set up. A flanged cover 17 is arranged to fitaround the upper edge Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 27, 1916..
Serial No. 791,144.
of the wall of the set up coop, this cover serving to hold the upper portion in distended circular position, In one of the sections of the wall is formed an opening 18, and secured on the inner face of the wall at the sides of the opening are the vertical guides 19 in which are arranged the vertically slidable screen door 20 and the solid metal door 21. Each of the doorsis provided with a thumb button 22, these buttons being arranged out of line with each other, and the lower edge of the straight door is provided With a notch 23 which receives the button of the screen door to permit the solid door to move down to the bottom of the opening and completely close the same.
To knock down the coop, it is only necessary to remove the cover, and then push the bottom up through the top, whereupon the sections of the wall can be folded flat against each other by means of the hinges. The
coop thus comprises the three separable elements, namely the surrounding wall, the cover and the bottom.
hat is claimed is:-
A. collapsible brood coop comprising a of said walls being provided with an en- I trance opening and a movable door, and a removable roof havlng a depending circular flange enclrclmg the upper portions of the walls to maintain the cylindrical formation thereof, i V In testimony whereof, I affix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
