AUTOMOBllE HEATER ATTACHMENT. I
APPLICATION FILED ocT.2a. I9Is HIRSCH HERBERT SICI-IEL, OF PORTLAND, OREGON.
AUTOMOBILE HEATER ATTACHMENT.
Application filed October 28, 1915.
-T0 all whom t may concern Be it known that I, HIRsoH HERBERT SIGHEL, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Portland, in the county of Multnomah and State of Oregon, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Automobile Heater Attachments, of which the following is a specification.
rihis invention relates to a heating attachment for automobiles and it has for its object the provision of a device -in the nature of an electric stove the heating units of which are energized by electricityT obtained from the automobile.
It is a further object of the invention to provide a compact easily carried stove of this nature provided with novel means for supporting it in conjunction with a part ofthe automobile.
Further objects and advantages of the invention will be set forth in the detailed description which now follows.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a front view of a stove constructed in accordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the stove proper with the upper cover or shield removed. Fig. 3 is an end view of the stove illustrating the same supported in conjunction with the running board of an automobile, and F ig. i is a view of the stove in its collapsed or packed condition.
Like numerals designate corresponding parts in all of the figures of the drawing.
In carrying out the invention I provide a stove body 5 carrying any desired number of heating plates 6'of the usual formV employed in electric stoves. A cover plate 7 is hinged at 8 to the body 5 and is arranged to be held in vertical position by braces 8 of a well known kind. When the stove is to be supported in conjunction with the running board of an automobile disposed at the rear edge of the body 5, a clamp 9 having a set screw 10 is engaged with the running board 11 of the automobile, legs comprising tubular portions 12 and pins 13 slidable therein, are pivoted at 14 to the body 5. Set screws 15 permit of adjustment of the pins into and out of the tubular portions 12.
The stove forming the subject matter of Specification of Letters Patent.

serial No. 58,401.
the present invention is designed to provide travelers with a ready means of cooking while en route. To provide means for packing the stove into a small compass so that it can be readily carried, a bottom plate 16, corresponding in shape to cover plate 7, is provided. These plates 7 and 16 carry pins 17 and 18, respectively, which pins are adapted to be engaged by pivoted hooks 19 carried by the body 5. lll/hen it is desired to pack the stove for transportation the cover plate 7 is lowered and the cover plate 16 is placed upon the bottom of the body 5 after the legs 12 have been folded upwardly into said body. The hooks 19 are then turned into the position illustrated in Fig. i whereby all of these parts are held in the position shown, at which time the bottom plate 16 in conjunction with an underside recess 20 of the body 5 forms'a convenient receptacie for the legs, and an electric cord not shown, by which power is supplied to the device. The cover 4plate 7 when raised to the position illustrated in Fig. 3 forms a shield to protect the paint and varnish of the sido of the automobile from the heat of the stove and also from any grease which may spatter during the cooking operation. Sockets 21 provide means for attachingthe electric cord to the stove and I contemplate securing the current for energizing the units of said stove from the electrical self starter or other part of the power plant of the automobile.
Variations in the form of this stove may be resorted to for it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the precise construction set forth but that it includes within its purview such changes as come within the spirit of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is A stove for automobiles, including an intermediate plate member having an arrangement of cooking` utensil heating plates, said intermediate plate member being adapted to have applied thereto a heating medium and equipped with means for its attachment to the running board of the automobile, said intermediate heating plate 4having a recess 2k ,l Y i l1,187,664
.fin its underside anda cover plateV arranged In testimony whereof I affix my signature to be appliedl t0 the bottom of said heating in the presence of two Witnesses.
VVplate, as a closure for vsaid bottom recess, x said intermediate heating plate having legs HIRSCH HERBERT SICHEL' 5 hingedlyeonneetedto its underside, akt-one v Witnesses: f Y .side Vadaptedto be received Within the re- D. SOLIS COHEN,
*cess in the underside of said heating plate. EDITH OLSON.
