DISPLAY-STAND FOR ADVERTISING.
Specification of Letters Patent.

Application filed July 10, 1915. Serial No. 39,071.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, SAMUEL KLEIN, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, residing at Canton, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio, have'invented a new and useful Display-Stand for Advertising, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in display stands 'for advertising in which a base is provided and adjustable parts connected thereto.
The object of the present invention is to provide a simple device, one that is easily constructed and well adapted for advertising purposes. This object, together with other objects readily apparent to those skilled in the art, may be attained by the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings, although the invention may be embodied in other forms, the construction illustrated being chosen by way of example.
In the accompanying drawing: Figure 1 is a perspective view. Fig. 2 is a vertical section. Fig. 3 is a view showing a portion of an advertising card, also showing a portion of the base and one of the retaining arms.
Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawing.-
In the accompanying drawing, 1 represents the base which may be of any desired size, reference being had to the size of the advertising sheet or card designed to be displayed. To the base 1 is attached in any convenient and well known manner the upi right flange 2, the upper edge of which is 1 provided with the sheet or card receivlng groove 3. To the flange 2 and upon the rear side thereof is attached the bracket 4:,
to which bracket is attached the adjusting screw 5. To the base 1 is pivotally connected.
the bar 6 by means of the hinge 7. Upon the bar 6 is located the adjustable bar 8, which bar is provided with the elongated slot 9, through which elongated slot and the bar 6 is located the bolt 10, which bolt is provided with the clamping nut 11.
To the adjustable. slotted bar 8 are attached the horizontal bars 12 and .13, which bars are each provided with the elongated j ustable parts held in fixed adjustment. This adjustment is for the purpose of providing means whereby various sized advertising sheets or cards can be held.
- For the purpose of holding the vertical edges of the sheet or card, the ends of the horizontal bars 12 and 13 are each provided with the notched ends 20, into which notched ends the edges of the sheet are inserted as best illustrated in Fig. 3. It will be understood that when the horizontal bars are brought into the position illustrated in dotted lines Fig. lthe outer end of one of the horizontal bars will be spaced from the hooked end of the other horizontal bar and in order to provide proper backing for the card near the hooked end'the shoulder 21 is provided, which shoulder is formed of sufficient length to provide suitable backing and of a thickness corresponding with the thickness of the lapped portion of the front horizontal slotted bar. It will be understood that the lower edge of the sheet or card is to be seated in the groove 3 formed in the top or upper edge of the flange 2, by which arrangement the sheet or card will be held in proper relative position with reference to its supports. The present invention has more specific reference to an advertising device to be placed in windows and in order to give the proper inclination of the exposed advertising sheet or card the adj ustingscrew' combination of a base, a bar hinged at its bottom 0r lower end to said base, a grooved flange secured to said base, a bar adjustably attached to the hinged bar, horizontal bars connected to said'adjustable bar, the'endsof said horizontal bars provided with hooked ends, said hooked ends prov'ided to receive the vertical edges of an advertising card,
and means for holding the vertical and horizontal bars in fixed adjustment. 1e
