To all whom it may concern:

' Be it known that I, HENRY METZGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakland, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Show-Cases and the like, of which the following is aspecification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in removable sash for show cases, windows, cupboards and the like, andit has for its objects among others to provide a simple, yet efficient and durable construction whereby the sash may be readily removed for cleaning or for other purposesv without interference by mslde shelving and also for easy repair purposes without inconveniencing any one behinda counter; also one which shall be dustproof, applicable to any style of movable sash and so constructed as to prevent its leaving the track by any ordinary usage of the sash or sashes. It has for a further object to provide a construction readily applicable to any kind or style of existing case fronts, the track being entirely separate and attachable to any manner of case, either wood, metal or glass,

and'without adding materially to the cost thereof. The tracks may be made of metal many other suitable material, readily at tached to the desired support and when in position easily movable upon the tracks.

Other objects and advantages of the in- 3 5\ vention will hereinafter appear and the novel features thereof will be particularly pointed out in the appended claim. In opposite edges of the sash are rollers 5 and 6. In the present instance the rollers 5 at the top are shown as provided with a greater space between their side flanges than the spacebetween the flanges of the lower rollers 6 for apurpose which will The lower rollers are guided upon-the flanges7 and 8 of the tracks 9 and 10, which latter are secured in position in any suitable manner as by screws or the like 11. These tracks are attachable rtO show cases or other articlesof any nature without anyspecial construction of the latter and may be formed in any either two-ply, as seen in Fig. 3, or otherwise. 1

The upper tracks 12 and 13 comprise each a base portion adapted to'be secured to the show case or other article by screws or the like and from each base portion there eX- or flange 14,

Each of the movable portions being shown in Fig. 4, so that the portion 17 g i'nward against the pressure of the'spring or it iiilaced v with its rollers engaging the movable tracks are each provided with the depend? 17 is backed by a springer, springs 20, twof' springs until the rollers at the lower edge of the sash can be engaged over the flange of the bottom track. Then pressure is removed from the sash, when the springs or spring will force the" movable portion 17 outward in alinement with the fixed portion of the upper track and the sash is held in position against accidental displacement, but can be can be moved outward, as indicated bydotted lines in Fig. 3.

By providing the moldings 21 and 22 at the top' and bottom, as indicated in Fig. 3, a dustproof structure is assured.

The extensions 23 of the movable portion 17 may be of greater or less length as may be found most expedientl By the construction shown, the tracks are as neat in appearance as any other form and the sash may be quickly and easily inserted or removed. The track sections may be made or any desired width or length, of

metal or any other suitable material.

Besides the convenience of cleaning or repairs, the sash may be easily removed and the construction shown not onlylsaves hard work, but prevents breakage of the glass. The grooves in the rollers may be of any desired depth and the movable portion may be'disposed at any desired part of the track.

Modifications in details may be resorted to Without departing from the spirit of the invention or sacrificing any of its advantages.

What is claimed as new is:-

In a show case, tracks attachable thereto and having securing flanges and roller-em gaging flanges, tracks opposed to first-named tracks and each comprising a base portion with attaching flanges and a central web, side members embracing each web, said lastnained tracks being provided with slits corresponding with the width of each sash, track: portions movable Within said slits and provided with offsets, pins passed transversely through said side members and engaging with said offsets in said slits to limit the outward movement of the movable track portions, said movable track portions having longitudinal extensions within said slits,

and springs extending in said slits lengthwise of ,the track portions and bearing against the rear faces thereof between said pins and the central portions of track portions, and sashmovable between said opposed tracks-and having grooved rollers engaged with said movable track portions and copies @2- this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the Commissioner of Patents,
