Description
A.ZORBA. GUIDE FOR WINDOW SHADES.
APPLICATION FILED MAR- 2,1915- Patented Apr. 25, 1916.
THE COLUMBIA PLANonRAPH $20.. WASHINGTON, D. c.
GUIDE FOR WINDOW-SHADES.
Application filed March 2, 1915.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALEXANDER ZORBA, citizen of the United States, residing at Herrick, in the county of Gregory and State of South Dakota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Guides for VVindow-Shades, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to guides for window shades and has for its object the provision of means for limiting the vertical movement of the shade so that the shade at its lowest point of movement cannot inju riously contact with the window sill and at its upper limit of movement will be pre vented from injurious engagement with the shade roller.
A further object of the invention is to provide means for insuring a true winding of the shade upon the shade roller so that the edges of the shade will not become frayed and broken by running in contact with the shade roller brackets.
Further objects and ac vantages in the invention will be set forth in the detailed description which now follows. I
In the accompanying drawing Figure 1 is a front elevation of a window frame and shade having the invention applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a vertical section taken through one of the guides. Fig. 3 is a detail perspec tive view of one of the guides.
Like numerals designate corresponding parts in all of the figures of the drawing.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral 5 designates the window frame, 6 the shade and 7 the shade roller brackets, these parts being of the usual and well known construction. Guides 8, provided with elongated slots 9, are secured by means of ears 10 and screws 11 at the opposite sides of the window frame.
The shade 6 is folded and stitched in the usual manner to form a pocket 14: at its lower edge in which the usual stick 15 is mounted. A screw 16 having an angular Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 25, 1916.
Serial No. 11,640.
It will be noted that the slots 9 terminate short of the top and the bottom of the guides 8 and thereby the travel of the shade is limited so that it cannot ever move to a point where the lower edge of the shade injuriously contacts with the window sill or where the stick is injuriously jammed between the shade roller and the window frame. it will also be seen that this structure compels the shade to be wound true upon the shade roller whereby injurious fraying and breaking of the edges of the shade is avoided.
Having described my invention, what I claim is:
The combination with a window shade and its stick, of a pair of guides therefor, one of said guides being disposed at each side of said window, each of said guides being formed from a single fiat plate slotted vertically and having integral members extending therefrom to provide means by which the guides may be secured to the window frame, said plates having their front faces disposed toward the rear face of the window shade and the slots thereof terminating such a distance short of the bottom of said plates as to prevent the lower edge of the shade from contacting with the window sill, and members slidably mounted in said slots and having threaded portions which are screwed into the window stick.
In testimony whereof I hereto a'liix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
