11 In accordance with the present invention fjthe main fan zrwhich is disposedbehmd the radiator and suitably driven off the engine is provided with a spindle a which is suitably journaled and is provided at its extremity with a propeller a which is disposed in I the pipe or tube 6 connecting the radiator to the cylinder. Thus it will be seen that in op eration as soon as the engine is runningthe imain fan a is caused to revolve so rotating the propeller a disposed in theconnecting tube 5 and thereby materially assisting the circulation ofthe water.
The apparatus ispreferably used in con junction with a thermo-siphoncooling arrangement to assist same and it will be obvious that should any derangement occurto the apparatus the natural circulation of the water is in no way affected.

According to one convenient construction as' shown in Fig. 1, the spindle or shaft a carrying the main fan a disposed behind the radiator, and also theassisting propeller ar arranged in the pipe 6 may be journaled in a suitable portion of the said pipe such as for instance the spindle. or shaft a may enter or pass through a stuffing box or the like a in the said pipe thus insuring the connection being water-tight and the pipe for this purpose is formed or bent at right angles to itself, the spindle a lying in the horizontal portion entering the cylinder jacket while the main fan a lies in thesame plane as the vertical portion. A hearing b is provided in the pipe to receive the horizontal spindle. A pulley a may be mounted on thespindle for driving same oii the engine.
If desired the main fan may be mounted on a separate hearing as shown in Fig. 2 and be provided with a pulley cl and in this instance the propeller spindle d is as before provided with pulley the two pulleys being driven by an endless belt 6 embracing same and operated from the engine in the usual manner. Instead of a propeller a being provided on the spindle a a worm screw or helical blade 'fmay be employed as shown in Fig. 3. According to a further modification as shown in Fig. 4 the pulley (l on the main fan a and spindle cl carrying the propeller may be in frictional engagement or a friction pulley a may be disposed between same, or in order that the propeller a? may be always in engagement or be turned by the rotation of the fan a, an endless band e may be employedand in order that the the cylinder or cylinders c or in the tube conducting the water away from the cylinders the blades of the propeller being of course fixed so that they force the water into the cylinder in the former case, and away from the cylinder in the latter case.
