To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, LOUIS J. JOHNSON, a citizen of the United States, residing. at Mishawaka, in the county of St. Joseph and a State of Indiana, have inventedcertain new and useful Improvements in Outboard Motors for Small Craft, of-which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to outboard motors for small craft, and has for its object to pro- 'vide in combination with a pivotally mounted motor having a depending tubular casing, which casing is rotatably mounted in a supporting sleeve at its upper end, and provided with a sleeve intermediateits ends having interlocking means cooperating with a stationary member, means whereby water from a pumpadjacent the lower end of the tubular casing will be conducted through a pipe, which pipe extends through sleeves between their inner and outer peripheries where the pipe will not interfere with the rotation of the motor and tubular casing.
A further object is to provide a discharge pipe from the waterjacket of the motor,
which pipe extends downwardly through the upper supportingv sleeve of the tubular casing.
A further object is to provide 1n combma- =tion with a pivotally mounted and vertically movableoutboardmotor, said anotor being I supported on a sleeve adjacentits upper end carried by the drive shaft casing, and provided with a sleeveintermediate its ends rotatably-mounted between slotted arms having a member cooperating with interlocking means carried by the sleeve, a water supplypipe for the water jacket of the motor,"
which supply pipe is disposed outsideof the 4 tubular drive shaftsleeve, thereby allow ing a maximum diameter of drive-shaft and L toextend the water supply pipe through the v sleeves carried by the tubular drive shaft I sleeve, in a manner whereby they will not interfere with the rotation of the motor and tubular drive shaft sleeve carried thereby.
With theabove and other objects in. view I the invention resides in the combination and arrangement 'of parts as heremafter set may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from thespirit of' the invention.

' Referring to the drawing, the-numeral 1' designates the water jacket ofthe motor, 2 a water supply pipe connected to said acket and 3 a water discharge pipe connected to said jacket, through which pipes water passes to and from the water jacket of the motor for cooling purposes. It will be seen that if the water supply pipe 18, which leads from the pump 19,
,adjacent the lower end of the casing 6, is disposed outside of the sleeve '12 and the steering purposes, or for raising the propeljustably mounted between slotted segmenthe sleeves 1 and 12.

From the above it will be seen that a water supply and discharge pipe is provided for water jackets of out-board motors,
which motors are pivotally mounted in 'supporting sleeves, and the pipes disposed in a position where they will not interfere with the free rotation of the motor in its supporting bearing.
