WILLIAM HENRY POLLGREEN, OF BISBEE, ARIZONA.
INFANTS COMFORT-BAG.
Specification of Letters Yatent.
Patented Mar. 21, 1916.
Application filed February 10, 1915. Serial No. 7,404.
To all 'whom it may concern J Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. POLL- GnmzN, a citizen of Great. Britain, residing at llisbee. in the county ot' (lochise and State of Arizona. have invented certain new and useful Improvements in lnfants` Comfort- Bags; and l do hereby declare the following to be a full. clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to bags or containers for carrying the articles necessary for an infants comfort and is adapted to be suspended from the handle of a baby carriage. and one of the principal objects of the invention is to provide a bag or container of simple construction which will have various compartments or pockets for containing soiled clothes, soap, sponge, powder. brushes. milk bottles, etc.
lhe foregoingr and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which-- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a bag made in accordance with this invention and folded and suspended from the handle bar of a baby carriage. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the bag with one of the flaps opened, or the bag unfolded at one point. Fig. 3 is a perspective view ot' the bag entirely opened out. and showing the reverse side, and Fig. l is a sectional View taken on the line @1i-l of Fig. 1, and made on a larger scale.
'Referring to the drawungs by reference characters. 1V designates the body. 2 the upper section, and 2 the lower UVetion ot a bag constructed in aecordaine with my invention. ',lhe upper section E is .flexibly connected to the upper edge of the body 1, so that it may be. wung into opened and closed position. and the lower section Qa is lexibly connected to thc lower edge of the body so that it muy be swung into opened and closed position. Vtlhen in closed position, the upper section 2 lies folded against the inner side oi' the body 1. and the lower section 2a lies folded against. the upper section 2, as shown in Figs. 1 and 4 ot' the drawings. When in opened position, the upper section 2 and the lower section 2 extend from the upper and lower edges of the body 1, respectively, as shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings. The upper section 2 is made of two layers to form a pocket 3 having a suitable closure flap 4 adapted to be secured in closed position by buttons 13. The opening to thc pocket 3 is located at the inner or attached end of the section Q. The body 1 is also made of two layers of material to provide a pocket (3 which has its opening located at one side of the body. This pocket is provided with a closure flap 7 which is adapted to be secured in closed position by a button 9. The button 9 is carried by the body 1 and is adapted to be passed through a button hole 8 in the flap 7. The lower section Q is made of two layers of material which are divided by rows of stitches to provide a series of pockets, 10, 1,1 and 12. These pockets have their openings located at the free end of the section 2, and they are adapted to be closed by a lap 13. The flap 13 is adapted to be secured in closed position by buttons Secured to the free end of the section 2 is a loop of cord or tape 15 which is provided with a pair of relatively spaced eyes a. The bag is provided with a binding 16. A series of hooks 17 are connet-,ted to the lla p 4, and a plurality of eyes 18 are secured to the free end of the section Q, The hooks 17 are adapted to be engaged with the eyes 18 when it is desired t0 secure the section Q in closed position. A pair of straps 20 are each scoured at one end to the upper end of the body 1 and they are provided at their free ends with hooks 21 adapted to be engaged with the eyesi a carried by the loops 15.
The pocket 3 may be utilized for containing soiled linen, the. pocket 6 for containing clean linen. and the pockets 10, 11 and 12 for containing soap, powder, nursing bottles, powder puffs, brush` comb and the like. After the various articles have been placed in their respective. pockets. the flaps 4, 7 and 13 are closed and buttoned. The section Q is then folded upon the, body 1., and the scction 2 folded upon the section 2. To secure the sections in `folded or closed position, the hooks 17 are engaged with the eyes 18. 'lhe bag may be carried in the hand by the loop 15, or it may be, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawing, suspended from the handle bar of a baby carriage. To suspend the bag from the handle bar 22, the straps 20 are looped about the handle bar and their hooks Q1 are engaged with the eyes a carried by tho loop 15. When the bag is suspended from the handle 22 ofthe baby carriage,
access may be had to the pockets 10, 11 and 12 by merely unbuttoning the flap 13. To gain access to the pockets 3 and 6, it is only necessary to disengage the hooks 17 from the eyes 18, move the section 2 outwardly from the body 1 and section 2, and unbutton the iaps 4 and 7.
Various changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the claims.
What is claimed is 1- 1. A bagr of the character described comprising a body provided with a pocket, an upper section provided with a pocket, a lower section provided with a pocket, said upper and lower sections being flexibly connected to the upper and lower edges of the body to permit them to be moved into opened and closed positions, straps each secured at one end to the upper end of the body, hooks secured to the free ends of said Straps, a loop secured to the free end of the lower section, and eyes secured to the loop, said hooks being adapted to be engaged with the eyes to secure the straps about a support.
2. A bag of the character set forth comprising a body, an upper section, a lower section, said body and said sections being provided with pockets, said upper and lower Sections being flexibly connected to the upper and lower edges of the body to permit them to be moved into opened and closed positions, hooks carried by the upper sec-- tion, eyes carried by the free end of the lower section, said hooks being adapted to engage the eyes to secure the lower section in closed position, straps each secured at one end to the upper end of the body, hooks secured to the free ends of the straps, a loop secured to the free end of the lower section, and eyes secured to the loop, the hooks carried by the straps being adapted to be engaged with the eyes to secure the straps about a, support.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presencef two witnesses.
