Description

I PATENTE JUL 181871.
PATENT OEEICE.
JOSEPH MCGEE, OE LANCASTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE.
IMPROVEMENT IN NECK-TIE RETAINERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 117,189, dated July 18, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH MCGEE, of Lancaster, in the county of Coos and State of New Hampshire, have invented a new and useiiil Improvement in Neck-Tie Retainers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which dll enable others skilled inthe art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification.
This invention relates to an improvement in collar-pins and neck-ties; and consists in a necktie and collar-pin combined, and in the mode of fastening to the collar.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure l represents a view of the inside or reverse side as eye, C, from which is supported the spring I),
consisting of a single piece of wire, bent after being passed through the eye O, and doubled so that the pendent ends will straddle the eye of the shirt-button c, as seen in Fig. l, with a tendency to spring together and thus hold the plate freely in the eye when the pin is detached. The
curved wire E acts as a spring, and gives all the necessary iiexibility to the article when it is attached to the ctllar.
This collar-'pin is veryT conveniently attached, is durable, and neat, and may be used with any shape or style of ribbon or tabs, which latter may be changed to suit the fashion or taste of the wearer.
Having thus described iny invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The plate A having eye C, combined with the two-wired device D F hinged thereto, when all are constructed, arranged, and applied together, as and for the purpose specified.
JOSEPH MCGEE.
