To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GERRY E. EMANUEL, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Edgerton, in the county of WVilliams and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Packing-Frame; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the characters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to a frame for holding articles such as, bottles and medical supplies.

A particular object of the invention is to provide a frame which may be easily inserted in a grip or other container and which may be used for holding bottles and other receptacles in an upright position or in the position in which they may be placed, and at the same time prevent fracture of bottles or other articles that maybe inserted therein.

A further object is to provide a frame which is constructed of a material that will not only prevent breakage of the articles, but also will act to hold the articles tightly in their position when placed within the frame, the frame being of such a material that the parts which are movable with respect to each other tend to adhere when they are placed in position for binding or holding the articles.

A further object of my invention is to provide an adjustable frame wherein the compartments of the frame may be varied in width and length as may be desired.

Constructions containing the invention may have various forms and yet such constructions will accomplish some or all of the results contemplated by my invention. I have selected two of such constructions and shall describe them hereinafter in order that the manner in which they may be made and operated may be fully explained and understood by those skilled in the art to which the invention appertains.

1 is an oblong frame preferably rectangular in form and of suitable depth. It is made preferably of leather strap. The leather is somewhat heavy to give stiffness and to maintain the rectangular shape of It is provided with a plurality of partitions 2. They are also preferably made of somewhat heavy leather straps to give sufiicient stiffness and elasticity to the partitions. The partitions are secured to the straps along central vertical lines of the straps 4 by the stitches 10. The straps l extend around the sides 5 of the frame 1. The ends of the straps 4 are riveted together by rivets 6 to secure them together. The partitions 2 may be shifted along the sides 5. The straps are also preferably made of leather which will cause considerable adherence to the sides of the frame when they are turned about a vertical axis or a horizontal axis so as to cause the edges of the straps to engage with the sides of the frame.

When a bottle or other article is inserted in the frame between the partitions, the partitions are slightly bent causing the straps a to turn angularly with respect to the sides 5 and bind on the sides 5. This, together with the fact that the straps and sides are made of leather, causes the straps and the sides of the frame to adhere and prevents return movement or shifting of the partitions which press on each side of the article and hold it tightly in the compartment in which it is placed. This is particularly shown in Fig. 4 wherein the straps 4 will bind at the edges 7 and 8, the partitions 2 being slightly bent about the receptacle causing the straps a to turn. The sides 5 of the frame 1 being made of slightly stiff material the turning of the straps is yieldingly resisted by the sides 5 and the two parts being made of leather, they adhere and hold the partitions in the positions that they are placed and consequently bind the receptacle 9 so as to hold it either from lateral movement along the frame 1 or longitudinal movement out of the frame 1. If the partitions are turned about a horizontal axis the strips will bind on the sides of'the frame at upper and loyver corners of the straps. H p

In the construction illustratedin Fig.2

the partitions 13 and the ends 14 are each to the inner ends of theparts. The Width of the frame 12 may thus be adjusted locally by fastening one or the other of the fasteners of one or more partitions together. By this means receptacles or articles of various sizes may be secured together and the frame drawn inward and bent along the sides by the straps 4L so as to cause the desired binding of the edges of the straps 4 on the sides 5 of the frame.

The invention may be varied by those skilled in the art Without departing from the spirit thereof and such modifications Will still accomplish advantageous results Which are obtained by my invention.
