To all rwhom t may concern.' c n Be it known that I, GUY W. BLAKELY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Saxman, in the county of' Rice and State of' Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Perpetual Calendars, of which the following is a specicatiomreference being had to` the accompanying drawings. c
This invention relates to certain improvements in perpetual calendars and has relation more particularly to a `device of this general character especially designed and adapted for use in connection with a writing implement or the like; andan object of' the invention is to provide a calendar of this character having novel and improved means whereby the same may be operated with convenience and facility and which may be effectively maintained in applied position. l
The novel features of the invention will be carefully defined in the appended claim.
In order that my invention may be the better understood, l will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure 1 is an elevational View of a calendar constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention in applied position; Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional View of the device as shown in Fig. l, the coacting implement being shown .in elevation; Fig. 3 is a diagrammatic view 1llustrating the arrangement of the blocks containing the month identities; Fig. 4: is a diagrammatic view illustrating ,the blocks containing the date identities; and Fig. 5 is a diagrammatic view illustrating the blocks containing kthe dayidentities.
As disclosed in the accompanying drawings, l denotes an elongated tubular member preferably of a transverse diameter slightly in excess of the implement P to which it is to be applied and is provided at its opposite extremitieswith the diametrically opposed resilient fingers 2 adapted to frictionally engage the periphery of the implement and to maintain the tube in applied position thereon. Also carried by one end portion of the tubular member 1, preferably the inner extremity when applied, is the clip 3 adapted to coact in a conventional Way with a pocket or the like, for a purpose which is believed to be clearly apparent to those skilled in the art to Which my invention appertains. Rotatably engaged with the upper extremity of the tubular member l are the sleeves 4 and 5, each of said sleeves, as herein disclosed, being provided with an annular bead 6 adapted to be received within an annular groove 7 suitably produced in the tubular member 1, whereby each of the sleeves is effectively maintained against longitudinal displacement relative to the tubular member l but capable of free axial rotation therearound. i
The outer extremity of the tubular member l is divided by the lines or demarcations 8 into a plurality of annular fields, each of said fields being divided b-y the longitudinally disposed lines 9 into a plurality of blocks 10, said blocks of one field being oftset` relative to the blocks of the adjacent field, and said blocks have positioned therein the indications l1 denoting a month of a year together with the days ofsaid month. The fields afforded by the lines 8 are surrounded by the sleeve 4, said sleeve being provided in its opposite end portions with the openings l2 in offset relation and adapted to register with the blocks 10, for a purpose which is believed to be self-evident, and it is to be particularly noted that with one of' the openings in register with a ycoacting block7 the indications 11 visible through thesecond opening are sufliciently unintelligible or inaccurate as to permit the user to readily determine which of the openings 12 is in use.

y seven in number, and each of said fields being identified, as at 16, as a day of the week, said identities being arranged in proper sequence. The periphery of the tubular member l immediately adjacent the inner sleeve 5 is divided by the longitudinal and annular lines or demarcations 17 into the blocks 18 adapted to aline with the fields 15 and have positioned therein in proper .sequence the numerals 19 to denote the day of the month. The extreme inner extremity of the tubular member 1 has its periphery blank in order that suitable advertising matter or the like may be placed thereon.
It is thought that the operation of my improved calendar is self-evident without the necessity of a detailed description thereof.
