Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFErCE.
IMPROVEMENT IN RECTUM-BATHING APPARATUS. l
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 116,895, dated July 11, 1871.
,To all whom it may concern:
' being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification.
This invention relates to improvements in apparatus for bathing the rectum or for administering injections 3 and it consists in a cha-ir with a large opening through the bottom; a Huid-reservoir at the back, considerably above the bot tom; and a hose-pipe for conducting the water down under the chair and discharging it upward through the hole in the bottom, said pipe being provided with a stop-cock, with a lever and handle for working it. s
Figure l is a sectional elevation of my improved apparatus. Fig. 2 is a horizontal section taken on the line x .fr of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 represents an injecting-nozzle and hose to be attached to the pipe when required.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is an ordinary chair with a large opening in the bottom, to which I apply a water-tank C, at
the back above the seat, and to the tank I apply a leg or brace, B, for supporting it against falling over backward when charged with water. D is a hose-pipe attached to the bottom of the reservoir, and is to conduct the water under the chair and discharge it upward through the hole. E is a wide conical rim extending below the bottom to cause the discharged water to fall into a slop-bucket, F, which may be set on the iioor below. The pipe may have any kind of a nozzle for sprinkling or injections, and short pipes, G, with injecting-nozzle, may be secured onto the end of said pipe. I is the stop-valve. K is a lever attached thereto, and L is a pull-piece rising up through the chair-seat for working the valve.
This bathing apparatus will be very serviceable to persons having inirmities requiring' such treatment.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patente The combination, with the chair having a hole through the bottom, of the water-tank and pipe, the latter being provided with a stop-valve, and all arranged substantially as specified.
A C. B. VERONEE.
