Witweooeo Y HuDeui'ech 553 said plate HENRY nnu rson, or" new YORK, v. v.
STOVE. I
,To all whom it mag/concern:
Be it known-that I, HENRY DEUTSCH, a citizen of-the'United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stoves; and I do hereby declare the followingtdbe a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to stoves, and one of the principal objects of the invention is to provide a stove designed for burning gas and air or a mixture of gasolene and air, said stove being provided with a solid metal plate in which the burner pipes extend, said plate being disposed slightly below the top plate of the stove.
Another object of the invention is to provide a stove for either cooking or heating purposes which shall be provided with a solid plate in which the burners are disposed and said stove adapted to burn a combined gas and air fuel.
The foregoing and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of a cooking stove made in accordance with this invention, Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the same, Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view showing a portion of the heating plates broken away, Fig. 4 is a vertical sectional view through the stove, and Fig. 5 is a fragmentary perspective view of a portion of the plates.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 1 designates the back of the stove, 2 is the front, 3 are the legs and 41 is the top, while 5 is a bottom and 6 the ends. The top 4 is provided with removable cover plates 7 and doors 8 and 9 in the front of the stove are hinged at 10 and 11 and provided with suitable latches 12 and 13.
Within the oven are the usual shelves 1 1 and 15.
As thus far described the stove may be of the usual or any suitable construction, and may be used either as a cooking stove or as a heating stove.
A solid metal plate A is fitted in the stove between the back, the front and the sides at a point somewhat below the top 4, and is of sufficient thickness to retain considera le heat and to radiate it both i Specification of Letters Patent.

downward throughout the throughoutv the top plate. .The' plate .A is provided with a plurality of bores extending edgewise from the front'to near theback thereof,.and said bores being intersected by vertical openings 17 through Any suitable number of these openings may be utilized. Fitted .into the bores 16 are pipes 18, said bores each having burner openings which register with the openings 17 in the plate. The pipes 18 extend out in front of the stove and a fuel supply pipe 19 is connected to all of the pipes 18 and extends around one side of the stove as shown at 20, said pipe being provided with branches 21 and 22 for supplying gas and air combined to the burners. Suitable valves or cocks 23 may be used to control the fuel supply to the burners, and suitable valves 24: and 25 are used for regulating the relative quantity of gas or gasolene and air.
From the foregoing it will be obvious that a stove provided with a thick metal plate into which the burner pipes extend, furnishes a means of utilizing to advantage combined gas and air for either heating or cooking purposes, said plate retaining the heat after it is once heated for a long time and radiating the heat outward into the oven or upward toward the top plate.
Various changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the claims.
What is claimed is 1. A stove provided with a metal casing, a metal top provided with openings, an oven within said casing and a thick metal plate disposed within the casing between the oven and top, said plate having a series of bores extending edgewise into the plate and terminating near the rear end, said bores each having a plurality of openings intersecting the same and extending entirely through the plate at right angles to said bores, pipes fitted in said bores and provided with burner openings in alinement with the openings in the plate, a feed pipe connected to the first mentioned pipes and branches in said feed pipe for supplying air and gas to the burners.
2. A stove provided with a metal casing, a metal top provided with openings, an oven within said casing, a thick metal plate disposed within the casing bet een th n Patented Jan. 18, 1916.
