CHARLES CROSELMIRE, OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, ASSIGNOR TO HIMSELF AND ALFRED V. C. GENUNG, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN JOININGS FR WATCH-CHAINS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 116,816, dated July 11, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES GRosELMIRE, of the cityY of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented an Improved Joining for Watch or Wateh-Guard Chains, of which the following is a speoioation:
My improvement consists in the peculiar forni given to the blank links by which a joining is securely made Without the help of soldering.
The drawing shows in Figure 1 some joined links of a chain. Fig. 2 isthe blank link, and Fig. 3 is the manner of the connection.
In Fig. l the ends b1 b2, Fig. 3, of ablank link have been brought together to be put through as one T) the longitudinal aperture c, Fig. 2. The
doubled end b3, being put through to the link, is, given a quarter turn, bringing the T across the aperture c. The bending together, to form of the two ends one connection, prevents turning baek to become again disjointed; at the same time providing the required freedom of motion to the joined links.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure, is-
The blank link, Fig. 2, as and for the purpose speeied and shown.
