RIFFLE TABLE FOR CONCENTRATING APPARATUS AND METHOD-0F CONSTRUCTING THE SAME.
il' l n emitir s PATENT fo FREDRQIC. is. KOLLBERG, or insigni-3, ARIZONA.
RIFFLE-TABLE FOR CON-CENTRATING- APPARATUS AND METHDylOF CONSTRUCTIING-vi TVI-IE SAME;
Application filed April 12, 1915.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, FREDERIC B. KOLLBERG, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the town of Bisbee, county of Cochise, and State of Arizona, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Riflie-Tables for Concentrating Apparatus and Methods of Constructing the Same, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to riiile tables for concentrating apparatus, and has forits obkject the production of a table cover which will be of improved construction, and eiiiycient in operation.V i
A, further object is the production of a table cover which'will be of durable and .economical construction, and one which will permit of a simple method ofconstruction.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
TWith vthese objects in View, the inueention consists in the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, and in which, l
Figure l is a top plan view of a fragment of a ritiie table embodying the inveneach of said riiiles comprising a base sec-v tion 3 secured to the table by nails 4, and an upper section 5 secured to the section 3 by nails 6. Arranged upon the table l, in the spaces between the riffles, is a layer 7 of cement the upper surface of which is flush with the upper edges of rilie sections 3, as clearly shown in Fig. 2. In the construction of the table cover, the base sections 3 of the riiiies are first secured in position. The cement is then introduced into the spaces between the sections 3 and leveled olf so as to be iush with the upper edges'v Specication of Letters Patent.

being used in the leveling-0E process, as will l beunderstood by thoseskilled in the art.
`.Hefter the cement lhas set, the riilie sections o are secured to the exposed upper edges of the sections 3.'
Through the alternating arrangement of the cement and riiies, aconstruction is provided in which a` thin sheet or layer of cement may be placed uponthe upper surface ofthe table without fear of the. cement cracking' ory buckling. Also,-with this arrangement the wooden rifiles in addition to serving as a means of anchoring the cement in position, permit also of contraction and expansion of the same -under differentV tem*- perature's. The cement forms an ideal wearing surface and will be perfectly smooth and flat. Through the sectionalrconstruction of the riflies, it will be seen that, the application vof the layer of cement to the upper' lside ofthe table between lthe rifiies may be effected with ease and expedition, it being lclear that without the sectional construction of the riliies, the leveling-off of the layer of cement between adjacent rifiles taking. rIhe cement also serves to securelyl anchor the base sections of the riiiies in place affording a secure and rigid base on which to secure the upper rime sections. Also, the sectional construction of the rifiles permitsV of easy and ready' removal of the upper sections for renewing the same when worn.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. For instance, it is understood that the rifile table cover is not limited to its use inl connection with the specific form of table shown, nor the specific arrangement or dis-` position of the riiiles upon the table, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modiications as come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. In concentrating apparatus, thecombi Y rwould be a tedious and laborious underi nation of a table; rifiiesspaced on said table,
each of said rifles being formed of two superimposed sections; `and a layer of plastie material on said table arranged between saidrifles, said layer being'of a thickness substantially the same as the height ot' the lower sections of said riiles, substantially as described. Y
2. ln concentrating apparatus, the combination of a table; ritlles spaced on said table, said riiiies being formed of base sections and sections fastened to the upper sides otl said base sections; and a layer oit' plastic material arranged 0n said vtable between said rifles, said layer being of a thickness substantially the saine as the height of the base sections of said riiiles, substantially as described.
3. ln concentrating apparatus, the combination of a table; transversely extending riflies spaced on said table, each of said riilles lbeingtormed of two superimposed sections; and a layer oiE plastic material on said table positioned between said rit'fles, said layer being of a thickness substantially the same as the height of the lower sections of said riitles, substantially as described.
4. lin concentrating aparatus, the combination of a table; riflles spaced on said table, each of said riiies being formed of two superimposed sections; and a layer of cement en said table arranged between said riilies, said layer being of a thickness substantially the same as the height ot the lower sections of said riiiies, substantially as described.
5. ln concentrating apparatus, the combination of a table; riiiies spaced on said table, said riiHes being formed Oi base sections of uniform height and sections fas- Copies of this patent may be obtained for ve cents each, by addressing tened to the upper sides of said base sections; and a layer of plastic material on said table between said riiiies having its upper surface iiush with the upper sides ot said base sections, substantially as described.
6. The method of constructing a concentrating apparatus comprising a table having spaced ritl'les thereon each oi which consists of two superimposed sections, and a layer o plastic material on the table arranged between said riiiies, which consists in iii-st aplying the lower sections ott said riiiies to the table; then i'illing in the spaces between the lower riilie sections with the plastic material; then leveling said plastic material off iiush with the upper edges of said lower riiiie sections; and in subsequently applying the upper ri'ie sections to the upper edges of said lower riiile sections, substantially as described.
7. In concentrating apparatus, the combif nation otl a table; riifies spaced on said table; and a layer of plastic material on said table arranged between said riiiies, said riiiies protruding from said layer of plastic material, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof l have signed my name to this speciiication in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
