To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that'I, FLoRnNcn EVANS, a citizen of the United States, residing near Clark, in the county of Boone and State of Mi souri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fan Attachments for Doors; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this spcification.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in attachments to screen doors and the object in view is to produce a simple and efficient means of this nature so arranged that, when the door is opened, a fan may be caused to blow the flies away from the door and prevent them coming through the door opening.

My invention comprises a simple and efficient device of this nature having various details of construction, combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings, and then specifically defined in the appended claim.

I illustrate my invention in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a strip of material which is adapted to be fastened to a screen door, said strip having a recess 13 formed in one edge thereof, and C and D designate brackets which are fastened to the face of the door, one adjacent to each marginal edge of said recess, and in which a shaft E has a bearing. Said shaft is provided with a drum or pulley F which is fixed thereto and has a beveled gear wheel K which is in mesh with a beveled gear wheel N secured to the fan 0 which in turn is secured to the shaft R projecting from said strip A. A string or rope, designated by Letter T, passes about said pulley and has a weight S secured to each end. Upon reference to the drawings, it will be noted that one end of the rope extends through the recess and affords means whereby a person approaching the door from either side may pull upon the cord or rope, thus causing the pulley to rotate and, through the gear con nections shown, a rapid rotary movement will be imparted to the fan for the purpose of creating a breeze which will blow the flies away from the door and prevent the same passing through the door when opened.

What I claim to be new is In combination with a door, a strip secured thereto and having a recess in one edge, brackets fastened to the face of the door adjacent to the marginal edges of the recess, a shaft journaled in said brackets, a pulley upon the shaft, a beveled gear fixed to rotate with the pulley, a fan shaft journaled in one of said bracket arms, a fan upon the fan shaft and a beveled gear Wheel thereon in mesh with the gear wheel which rotates with said pulley, a cord passing about said pulley and extending through said recess, and weights'secured to the ends of the cord, said cord being accessible from either side of the door.
