Description

UNrrED STATES PATENT QFFICE.
BENJAMIN B. HILL AND JOHN It. HILL, OF WTOROESTER, MASSACHUSETTS.
IMPROVEMENT IN WHEELS FQH ANIMAL-TRAPS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 116,592, dated July 4, 1871.
To all whom 'it may concern Beit known that we, BENJAMIN B. HiLL and JOHN 1t. HILL, of Worcester, county of Worcester, State of Massachusetts, have invented certain Improvements in Vheels for Animal-Traps, of which the following is a specification:
Our invention relates to that class of traps in which a revolvin wheel is used. Its object is to simplify the construction and make it efiicient. Its nature is fully exhibited in the following deseription:
ln the drawing, Figur-e 1 shows a side View of a Wheel embodying' our invention. Fig. shows the corrugated hand and a section through the center of the plate A.
The body of our Wheel is made of Wires I), bent near one end in the eonnnon forni, and the other end secured by means of a corrugated band, E, Whose corrugations hold the Wires, anda eapplate, A, forming a head, Whose edge a projects over the Wires, and is soldered nth them to the band E. The middle of A is struck up or made with a boss, B, which makes both a brace and cup to hold the solder inside, and thus secures the pivot C. The bent ends ofthe wires are brought near the center and secured by Casting a solid head, F, which holds thenl and the pivot G, around which aboss or brace is cast corresponding to the opposite one. These projections on the pivots both strengthen theln and also lnake a guard to keep the Wheel from hitting its supports, and the solid head gives additional weight, whieh steadies its motion and makes a more durable fastening for the wires tha-n has heretofore been used.
We claim- 1. The combination of the plate A, having a hub and riin, a, with the wires and corrugated band inside the Wires, as set forth.
2. The combination of the solid head with its hub, and pivot with the bent Wires, as above described.
I3. B. HILL.
