To all whom it may concm:

Be it known that I, J ESSE P. PERRY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hertford, in the county of Perquimans and State of North Carolina, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Twin Lace-Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to twin lace holders, so called, designed for the purpose of holding lace so that it will not become tangled and which will provide a means for displaying the lace and holding it flat, and at the same time for holding both the insertion and the edging of the lace smooth.

Another object of the invention is to provide an expansible twin lace holder which will hold the insertion and the edging to match it properly in position for display either upon the counter or in show windows.

The foregoing and other objects may be attained by means of the Construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which,

Figure l is a plan view of an expansible twin lace holder made in accordance with this invention, and F ig. 2 is a detail sectional View taken on the line 2--2 of Fig. l and made on a somewhat larger scale.

Referring to the drawings the numeral 1 designates a cross bar and connected to said bar are the two side members 2 and a central member 3. Projecting from the cross bar 1 are the stop members 4 designed to prevent the lace from coming ofi when in place. The bar 1 and the members 2, 3, and stops 4 may all be formed of a single piece of metal and may be stamped up from sheet metal if desired.

A duplicate frame precisely like that already described, is composed of the cross bar l the side members 2 and the central member 3 said bar also having stops l The side members Q and the central member 3 may be reduced in length,' and connected to them are flat tubular telescopic members 5. The ends of the members' are connected permanently to the members 2 and 3% and said flat tubular members 5 are adapted to receive the ends of the members 2 and 3 to permit them to slide within the flattened tubes 5. A binding screw 6 may be connected to one or both sides of the holder and when said set screw is loosened the members 2 and 3 may be readily pushed into the tubular members 5 and as readily eXtended. hen adjusted the binding screw 6 is turned to engage the members 2 as will be obvious.

In use the lace is removed from the card upon which it is wound when received from the factory and the twin holder is reduced in length by sliding the members 2 and 3 into the tubes 5 and the lace is then placed in position on the holder. The insertion is placed on one side of the center and the edging or border, on the other to match the insertion. After it has been placed in position the members 2 and 3 are withdrawn from the tubular members 5 to lengthen the same and hold the lace stretched and comparatively tight so that it will not tangle.

From the foregoing it will be obvious that when the lace is on the holder it may be thrown about the counter without tangling and may be placed in show windows or other places to display the goods.

Slight changes may be made in the details of Construction without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the claim.

What is claimed is:

In a device of the character described, an adjustable holder comprising a two-part frame, one of said parts consisting of a cross bar provided with three parallel members extending from the ends and center of said cross bar at right angles thereto, in combinaton with the second part of said frame comprising a cross bar provided with members extending at right angles from the center and each end thereof, flat tubular members connected to said members to receive the parallel members of the first part frame, set screws for securing the two part frame in adjusted position, and stops eX- tending from the cross bars in line With said parallel members substantially as described.
