residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Closet- Seats, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
The'invention relates to closet seats, and
cover and the hinge members for attachment to the bowl are formed from sheet metal stampings.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a sectional elevation; Fig. 2 is a cross section at r' ht angles to Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a perspective view .of the-seat cover; and Fig. 4 1s a similar view of the seat detached.
A is the seat member which is formed from an annular blank pressed to form the downturned rounded inner and Outer flanges B and (J. At the rear end of the member A the flange O is omitted and the metal is continued in the plane of the upper face to a substantially straight edge D. The opposite ends of this straight edge portion are provided with hinge earsE bifurcated to embrace hinge brackets F. Centrally between these bifurcated ears is a-space for receiving an alined hinge ear Gr formed at the rear of the cover member 'H, and a common rod I extends through all of the ears and the members F to form the hinge. I
The seat is supported by depending lugs L secured to the concave under face of the opposite sides thereof, which lugs are provided with rubber tips J resting upon the edges of the bowl. The cover section H is pressed to form a depending marginal flange K with the rearwardly-extending portion forming the hinge ear G as pre viously described. The cover member H is also provided with depending lugs L having Specification of Letters Patent.

rubber tips M for resting upon the seat section A.
With the construction described, the seat and cover may be secured by of bolts N engaging the bowl.
What I claim as my invention is 1. A closet seat, comprising an annular seat member and a cover member both a single pair formedlof sheet metal stampings, embossed to extend oppositely from their meeting plane, the rear ends of said members being fashioned to for-m alined hinge members in said meeting plane, and hinge shank sections also alined therewith having downwardly-deflected portions secured to the bowl. 1 i
2. A closet seat, comprising an annular seat member and a cover member both formed of sheet metal stampings embossed to extend oppositely from their meeting plane, the rear ends of said members being fashioned to form hinge ears alined in said meeting plane, and a hinge shank section embraced by said hinge ears and deflected downward therefrom to form a securing means to the bowl.
3. A closet seat, comprising an annular seat member and a cover member embossed to extend oppositely from their meeting plane and having hinge ears at their rear ends alined in said meeting plane, the hinge ears of said seat member being bifurcated to embrace the ears of said cover member and each of the furcations of said seat' member being bifurcated, and hinge brackets having portions embraced by said bifurcated furcations and downwardly deflected portions secured to the bowl.
In' testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
