= To all whom/ it may concern Be it known that I, EDWARD -V. POSEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at San Jose, in the county of Santa Clara and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Flows; and I do-declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in plows.

One'object of the invention is to provide a plow which is particularly adapted for turning stubble.

Another object is to provide a plow of this character which will be simple, strong and durable in construction, efficient and reliable in operation and which is provided with means for readily raising and lowering the plow.

With these and other objects in view the invention. consists of certain novel features of construction, and the combination and arrangement of parts as will be more fully described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a rear elevation of a plow equipped with this improvement; Fig.2 is a bottom plan view thereof; and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the adjusting shoe or plate.

Referring more particularly to the accompanying drawings, 1 denotes the mold board, 2 denotes the point, 3 denotes the share and 4 denotes the landside of my improved plow. To the landside is connected the lower end of the combined beam and standard 5 of the plow and to the landside and mold board are connected the handles 6 which are further connected by brace bars 7 to the rear end of the beam 5 as shown. The mold board is connected to the landside by a brace bar 1 as shown.

The share 3 comprises a plate of suitable thickness and having its ends formed at an angle or diverging from the inner toward the outer edge of the plate, said inner edge corresponding in length to the width of the lower front edge of the mold-board of the plow with which the inner edge of the share is engaged when in operative position. The ends of the share are alike or are formed at the same angle and the share is removably and reversibly secured to the plow by a wing plate 8 which corresponds in length to the width of the lower portion of the plow share Specification of Letters Patent.

to which said plate is adjustably secured bybolts 9 inserted through the mold-board near the lower edge thereof and engaged with slots or elongated bolt holes 10 formed in the wing plate near the rear edge thereof as shown.

The wing plate 8 extends from the inner side of the landside to the outer edge of the mold-board and has its forward edge formed at an angle corresponding to or parallel with the angular lower edge of the plow share.

The wing plate projects a suitable distance beyond. the-"lower or forward edge of the mold-board to form a firm support for the share which is adjustably and reversibly attached to the wing plate by bolts 11 which are engaged with elongated bolt holes 12 formed in the projecting portion of the wing plate and parallel with the angular edge thereof as shown. By thus fastening the share to the wing plate it will be seen that when the outer working edge of the share becomes worn and dull on its lower side that the share may be taken off and turned over or reversed'end for end, thus bringing the side of the share which was formerly uppermost down into position to engage the ground and reversing the edge of the share so that the part of said edge which was dull Will be brought into a position for being automatically sharpened by the passage of the share through the ground. By providing the slotted connection between the mold board and the wing plate and between the share and the wing plate it will be seen that these parts may be adjusted as the share is worn so that the latter may always be disposed in proper position with respect to the mold-board.

The landside 4 of the plow is preferably provided on its outer side with a wear plate 13 which is attached to the landside in any suitable manner and which, when worn,may be readily removed and replaced by a new wear plate 6 thus prolonging the life and usefulness of the landside. Secured to the lower side of the wing plate 8 is a tapered plow supporting shoe 14 which is in the form of a wedge shaped block having a flat shank 15 provided with a slot 16 adapted to receive one of the fastening bolts 9 of the wing plate whereby the shoe may be adjusted forwardly or rearwardly beneath the wing plate thereby raising or lowering and supporting the plow at different elevations.
