Be it known that I, RAMON LERA, a citizen of the Mexican Republic, residing at Bremen, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in GuardrTents for Babies, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in guard cribs for babies, and has for its object to provide a crib which is so constructed as to enable the baby to move freely about therein without requiring supervision and without danger' of becoming hurt by contact with any projections or parts of hard material and is designed to be set up either in a house or in the open air.

A further object is to provide a crib of the character described, which, when desired, may readily be collapsed and folded up so as to occupy but little spacein storage or transport.

In the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification in which like numbers of reference denote like parts wherever they appear` Figure 1 is a perspective view of the guard crib of this invention set upV and ready for use; and Fig. 2 is a plan view looking downward upon the frame and parts shown in Fig. 1, collapsed for storage or transport.

The two frames 1 and 2, which are preferably made of wood but which may be made of any other suitable material, are each preferably constructed of two horizontal bars supported in parallel spaced relation to each other by two vertical bars para-llel to each other as shown in Fig. 1. For strengthening said frames 1 and 2 and for making said frames more rigid, braces of any number or construction may be provided, such, for instance, as the braces 3, shown in Fig. `1, provided at the angles formed by the vertical. with the horizontal bars.

Frames 1 and 2 are connected and maintained in spaced parallel upright relation to each other preferably by four cross-bars 4 (as best seen in Fig. 1) which cross-bars may be attached to the frames 1 and 2 in any suitable manner and are preferably made of wood but may be made of any other suitable material. i

It is, of course` understood that instead of providing four cross-bars 4 as shown ,in Fig. l, one cross-bar or any number greater than one may be provided to connect and maintain frames 1 and 2 in spaced relation to each other.

In order to make the frame of the crib formed by means of the two frames 1 and 2 and their cross-bars 4 of conveniently collapsible construction, the cross-bars 4 are preferably attached to frames l and 2 in hinged relation by means of vhinges 5 or the like and said cross-bars 4 are preferably divided at 5,V each of said divisions being joined in hinged relation to each other by means of hinges 7 or the like so that said parIts may be collapsed, preferably as shown in `ig. 2.

Preferably at any desired distance from each end of the vertical supports of frames 1 and 2 a rope 8 or the like is provided and strung substantially vertically between the two horizontal bars of each frame, said ropes or the like being adapted to form yielding edges about which a net 9 or the like of any suitable material and width may be spread or drawn to form a net-inclosed space preferably rectangular as shown in Fig. 1, the upper and lower edges of said net 9 being preferably fastened to the horizontal bars of frames 1 and 2 and to the cross-bars 4.

It is, of course, understood, that instead of supporting ropes S upon frames 1 and 2, said ropes may be supported or strung, preferably substantially vertically, between the cross-bars 4 in the construction of frames and cross-bars shown in Fig. 1.

A mattress 10 or the like is preferably placed within the space formed by spreading the net 9 around the ropes 8 as shown in Fig. 1, so that a baby placed in said net-confined space is protected from contact with the oor of a room or the like or from the ground, and, also, from contact with the parts of frames 1 and 2 and the cross-bars 4 adjacent to said Hoor, ground, or the like.

It is preferable to construct the upper horizontal bars of the frames 1 and 2 and the adjacent cross-bars sufiiciently high above the floor or the like to prevent a baby standing within the inclosure surrounded by Specication of Letters Patent. Ifatlntdl lDvB. 14, IQI- the net 9 from coming in contact with said bars andcross-bars, and it is, also, preferable that the mesh of the net 8 be sufficiently small to prevent the baby within said inclosure from reaching out his hand therethrough.

For convenience, a door (not shown) may be provided in net 9.

It will be noted from an inspection ofthe drawing that the opposite ends of the frames l and 2 extend beyond the cross bars or connecting members 4 producing wings which steady the crib and prevent its being turned over should a child press against the ends thereof.

I claim: 1. In a guard crib for babies the combination of two vertically disposed rigid frames each including upper and lower members connected by rigid vertical members at the ends thereof, and'at points in spaced relation to the ends thereof by yielding ineinbers, folding spacing means secured to the upper and lower sides of the vertical rigid frames and foldable inwardly between said frames, and a net or the like secured to the yielding connecting members and surrounding the space between the vertical rigid frames and the folding connecting members.

2. In a guard crib for babies, the combination of two oppositely-disposed frames arranged in vertical planes, said frames each including upper and lower horizontal members, rigid vertical members connecting the ends of the horizontal members of each frame, yielding members connecting the horizontal members of each frame in spaced relation to the ends thereof, means for holding the frames in spaced relation, said means being collapsible, and a net secured to the yielding members and surrounding the space between the vertical frames and their spacing means.
