Description
G. J. FOX. SECTIONAL SASH WEIGHT.
Patented Dec. 7, 1915.
APPLICATION HLED APR. 10. I915. 1 16.906.

TRADING AS PHILADELPHIA SASI-I W SYLVANIA.
inn,
SECIIONAL SASH-WEIGH'I.
Application filed April 10, 1915.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE J. Fox, a c1t1- zen of the United States, residing at the city of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sectional Sash-"Weights, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a sash weight arranged in two sections, one member provided with a laterally notched and recessed tongue, and the other member provided with a pin and with a substantially semi-circular deep recessed periphery and with projecting side walls acting as bearings for the tongue member in position so that any shifting of one member in engagement with the other less than a right angular assumed position of the two connected members'with respect to each other, cannot release one from the other.
My invention consists of a sectional sashweight constructively arranged in the manner illustrated in the drawings and as hereinafter described and claimed.
The nature and object of my invention will be more fully understood from the following description taken in connection with the said drawings forming part hereof, in which- Figure 1, is a perspective view partly broken away of a sectional sash-weight. in an operative position, embodying the main feature of my said invention. Fig. 2, is a detached view of the two members, occupying a position at right angles to each other and in which position they can be released from each other. Fig. 3, is a front view of the member of the sash weight having the semi circular deep recessed periphery with the projecting side bearing walls. Fig. 4, is a similar view of the other member of the sash-weight having the notched and offset tongue; and Fig. 5, is a plan view of the two connected members of the sash-weight in dotted and full line shifted positions thereof and in either of which positions held against disengagement.
Referring to the drawings 1, is the member of the sash-weight having the front end formed with a substantially semicircular Copies of this patent may be obtained for Specification of Letters Patent.

deep recessed periphery 2, and with a cross pm 3, arranged about midway in the'space between the two projecting side walls 0; and a of the same. 4t, is the other member of the sash-weight having a curved and notched offset-tongue 5, arranged to be coupled therewith by the cross-pin of the member 1, so that the said sectional sash-weight may be manually caused to assume a normally operative position, as clearly illustrated in Fig. 1, for immediate use. In this condition the two members are held against displacement until the sections are shifted into a right angular position to each other, for example, into a position similar to that the two members occupy in Fig. 2, except as shown therein parted from one another.
The above defined arrangement is the particular advantageous feature of my said invention insuring desirable clearance of the members of the sash-weight in their connected relationship as in Fig. 1, and in the movement of the same up and down in the channel of the sash frame-work provided for the same.
Having thus described the nature and ob ject of my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A sectional sa lrweight having in combination two members insertible into each other from either side of one of said members, for attaching or locking in against lat eral displacement of said members, one of said members provided with a deep semi-circular recessed periphery and pin and the other provided with a notched tongue, the surface on both sides of said tongue curving toward one side thereof, to assist in the lock ing in against lateral disengagement of said members and whereby to release either member, one must be turned to substantially a right angle with respect to the other, substantially as shown and described.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my signature in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
GEORGE J. FOX.
