The principal object of the invention is to provide a stool which can be detachably secured to the body of a person. so that the same will always be in position for use, so that the persons hands can be free.
Another object is to provide a strong and durable device of this character and one in which the attaching belt can be adjusted vertically to fit any person or be adjusted according to the desires of the person.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings.
in the drawings: Figure 1 is a side elevation of the improved stool. Fig. 2 is a top plan view. Fig. 3 is a bottom plan View. Fig. 4 is a vertical section on the line H of Fig. 2.
Referring particularly to the accompanying drawings, represents a suitable standard which forms the main support and leg of the stool. t a suitable height in the standard is disposed a horizontally arranged U-shaped member 11, the connecting portion of the U-shaped member being secured to the standard by means of a bolt 12. Secured to the upper side of this member 11 is a seat board 18. Connected to each arm of the member 11 at one of its ends and at its other end to the standard below the seat is a brace rod 14.
In the upper end of the standard 10 is a vertically arranged elongated slot 15 through which is passed a strap belt 16 provided with a suitable buckle 17 and adapted to be adjusted around the waist of a person.
In the use of the device, the belt is strapped around the body of the person at the waist or as high as desired, and when the person desires to sit, as in picking cotton or milking a cow, the person merely stoops to rest on the seat board 13. When the person desires to move to another place, he need not use either hand to lift and carry the stool but may have both hands free, the stool being secured to the person and in proper position for use when again needed.
hat is claimed is:
A chair consisting of a single standard having a seat-board secured at a point between its ends, the standard above the seatboard having a transverse slot that is broadened longitudinally of the standard and a body-encircling strap passed through and movable in the slot longitudinally of the standard, whereby the body of a person may move toward and away from the seatboard while encircled by the strap.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
