Description
A. HERZINGER.
WATER HEATER.
'APPLICATION FILED FEB. 15, 1915.
Patented Nov. 2, 1915] Elma/whom ANTON nnnzrnenn, or PLAINVIEW, NEBRASKA.
WATER-HEATER,
I Application filed February 15, 1915. Serial No. 8,391.
T 0 all whom it may concern I Be it known thatI, ANTON HERZINGER, a
citizen of the United States, residing at Plainview, in the county of Pierce and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in -Water Heaters; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. I 7
This invention relates to water heaters, designed more particularly for heating water for stock in cold weather, and one of the principal objects of the invention is to provide a heater of simple construction which will require but little attention and which will keep the water in circulation through servicepipes.
Another object of the invention is to provide a heater of simple construction surrounded by a'water jacket and having a se ries of pipes connected to the water jacket and leading out through various places which Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view taken through a water heater made in accordance with this inventlon, and Fig. 2 1s a horizontal sectional view of the same.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral 1 designates a drum which is preferably open at the bottom as at 2 and provided with a cover 3, said cover having ventilating openings 4t therein, and air pipes 5 leading from near the lower end of the drum up through the top or cover 3, said air pipes being dis posed at each corner of the drum.
A water container 6 of circular form having its inner walls flaring, as shown at 7, and contracted at the upper end to form an opening, has connected to it at three diflerent points pipes 8 which communicate with the interior of the water container.
A deflector 9 is mounted on legs 10 and secured at the upper side of the watercontainer immediately above the opening at the,
top-of the flaring walls 7.
A coiled and perforated burner 11 having jet openings 12 therein is disposed immedi ately underneath the water container, and
said burner is supplied by gasolene or other 1 fuel through the pipe 13which leads up through the drum 1 and is provided with a tank 14; containing the fuel. A valve 15 is used to feed the fuel down to the burner, and a stop valve 16 is used at the burner to regulate the flame.
The airpipes 5 being open at their upper ends, and their lower ends terminating above thelower edge ofthe drum 1, air will be drawn in through the bottom'of these pipes to support the flame at the burner. The
heated air, which is deflected by the deflector 9, gradually passes out through the opening 4. 1
Specification of Letters Patent. PaatntedNov. 2, 1915.
From the foregoing it will be obvious that the water in the container 6 may be heated in a short time and discharge through the pipe to the point whereit is to be used for watering the stock, and that the deflector 9 retards the heat and thus economizes in the use of fuel.
'Various changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as de-' fined in the claim.
What is claimed is A water heater comprising a drum,'a closure at one end of the drum, said closure having outlet openings therein and an inlet opening near each corner, pipes secured in said inlet openings and extending into said drum and terminating at a point in close proximity to the edge of said drum, a burner in said drum, a fuel tank secured externally of said drum, a feed pipe extending into said drumand connecting the tank to the burner, and a water receptacle over said burnerQ In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
- ANTON HERZINGER.
