- res-a Bea;-
it known that PI, MQR m EAGWE,
' a citizen of 'th'eUnitd fitatea-i-residi ng at Newport, in the'county of Jao'ks'en and State particularlytd device of th'is generai' char-V 'terlocked in applied adjustment;
acter adapted to be produeed from a single blan-lqrand ;an-.-ob=j cetg.of;the invention is to provide a box having novel and improved means whereby the same may be magine and effectively maintain ed Riperative assemblage. 1P i Furthermore, it is an object of the inven tion' to provide *anove'l and improvedjfbpx of this general character including a supplemental closure medium andwherein such supplemental closure medium comprises relatively movable sections provided with coacting means whereby said sections may be in- The invention consists the constructlon and in the comblnation and arrangement of the several parts of my 1mproved paper box whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device 1s rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, all as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The novel features of the invention will be carefully defined in the appended claim.
In order that my invention may be the better" understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanylng drawlngs, where1n Figure 1 is a plan view of a blank from which a box constructed in accordance with an embodiment ofiny invention is adapted to be produced; Fig. 2 is a view in perspective of an assembled box :with'the top section shown in closed position.
. constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention is adapted to be prodetails of as a supplemental closure member.

duced 'and'of which 1 is a front section, 2.
abottom section, 3 a back section, 4 a
top section, and 5 a tuck flap. The front section 1 is provided with the longitudinally dis-posed slfits 6 and is also provided with the'end flaps 7, said end flaps? being pro vided with the slits 8 adapted to' have" inserted therethrough the ton'g ues 9 carried by' the'end flaps idof the back section. The end flaps '10 are provided withthe top 11,- on eof such flaps 11 having produeed transe ersely itsoute-r extremity a slit through which is adapted 'tobe' insertedthe locking tongue 14 projecting forwardly fromthe outer end .of' the oppositetopflap thereof. 9 The bottom-"section 2 is also proe accompanying drawings. The tuck flap 5 is provided with the hook tongue 16 adapted to be inserted through the slit 6 of the front section 1 in a manner and for a purpose which is believed to be self-evident. It may also be well to state at this time that the tongue 1% is also of hook formation.
In assembling. the device, as herein set forth, the end flaps 7 are adapted to overlie the end flaps l5 and the flaps 10 are adapted to overlie the flaps 17 so that the tongues 9 may be readily inserted through the slits 8. Bythis arrangement, the box is effectively maintained in operative assemblage, and in practice has'been found to possess a maximum of strengthand especially at the ends thereof which in the completed box, and as particularly illustrated in detail Fig. 3, are composed ofthree plies or laminations. The top flaps 11 are then in position to be folded over the openface of the box, as particularly shown in Fig. 2, and with the tongue 14 disposed through the slit 12, such top flaps are effectively maintained in closed adjustment and serve with advantlage he tuck flap 5 is adapted to overlie the front section 1 with the hook 16 thereof disposed through the slit 6 whereby it will be readily perceived'that the top section 4 will be effectively locked in closed position. It might be well to state at this time that under certain conditions it may be advisable to omit ii at'substantially the transverse center his thought ,to '1 be self-evident that the hooks 14 and 16 may be readily and conveniently interlocked Witl1.'their. respective slits 12 and 6'by relative lateral movement 5 between the top flaps 11 and the frontsec? 7 1 tion 1 and the tuck flap 5." r
From the" foregoing description, itfi s' thought to be obvious that a paper box constructed in accordance with my; invention 10 is of an extremely simple and comparativelyI 15 invention is susceptible of some .change. a'nd modification rwithout imaterial' departure fror'nr the principles and spirit thereof and for this reasonI do not Wish to be-under' stood as limiting myself to the precise ar-f 20 rangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out vmy inr: w 7
