Description
T. C. BUSBEE.
SUBSOILER.
APPLlCATION FILED JULY3I, 1915.
Patented Oct. 19, 1915.
7'. C. BUSBE E THOMAS C. BUSBEE, or
render d simpler wise more convenient and SUBSOILER.
To all whom it'mag concern I Be'it known that I, THOMAS C. Bosn an, a
I citizen of the United States, residing at Andalusia,
in the county of Covington and State of Alabama, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Subsoil ers,
I l of which the following is a specificatlon,
reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention, relates to certain improvements in sub-soilers, and it IS an ob ect of the invention to provide a novel and improved device of this general character which may be applied with facility and convenience to the stock of a plow and which may be adjusted vertically'in order to meet the varying requirements of practice.
The invention consists in thedetails of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved subsoiler whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device is less expensive and otheradvantageous for use, all as will be hereinafter more fully set forth. g 1
The novel features of the invention will carefully defined in the appended claims. In order'that my inventionmay be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure 1 is a view in side elevation of a subsoiler constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention and in .applied position; Fig. '2 is a sectional view taken substantially on the line 22 of Fig.
, l; and Fig. 3 is a fragmentary view in per- I ings, 1 denotes a plow stock construction, f produced with the beam 2 and projecting 'tachment disposed on a suitable curvature and having one extremity bifurcated or Copies of this patent may be obtained for Specification of Letters Patent. forked, as at 6, to straddle the stock 1 and pivotally engaged with said'stock throughthe medium of the removable pin 7 The stock :6 has pivotally engaged therewith the bracing strips 8 having their upper or free extremlties provided with the longitudinal notches 9 whereby the bracing strips may be adjustably" engaged with the inwardly disposed projections 10 carried by the-handles 3 in order to maintain the subsoiler in its various vertical adjustments, said projections being preferably bolts provided with hinged heads and in threaded engagement with the handles 3 whereby said bracing strips 8. maybev effectively clamped and maintained in their varying adjustments. From the foregoing description, it is thought to be obvious that a subsoiler constructed in accordance with my invention is of an extremely simple and comparatively inexpensive nature and is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled, and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification withoutv material departure fromthe principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice.
I claim:
In combination with a plow beam provided with handles, a subsoiler stock pivpivotally engaged with the subsoiler stock and provided with longitudinally spaced recesses, and endwise adjustable headed members carried by the handles of the plow beam with which the bracing strips are adapted to engage. said headed membersbeing capable of adjustment to clamp the strips against displacement.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my presence of two witnesses. THOMAS C. BUSBEE. Witnesses:
