The invention stilliilrthei resides in the provision of a detachable fastening element whereby the pole-strap to be fastened may be placed and removed as occasion demands without detaching or removing thedevice from the yoke in connection with which it is employed. a a

The above and additional objects are complished by such means as are illustrated in their preferred embodiment in the accompanying drawings, described in the following specification and then more particularly pointed out in the claims which are appended hereto and form a part of this application.

In describing my invention in detail reference will be had to the accompanying drawings, wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a side elevation illustrating the manner in which the attachment comprising my invention isfastened or secured to an ordinary neck-yoke; Fig. 2 is a section on the line 22 of Fig. 1; and Fig. 3 is a detail perspective View of the spring arm.

Proceeding now to the description of the drawings wherein is illustrated the preferred embodiment of my invention the numeral 1 designates a neck-yoke of the ordinary" typelmving he'usual Strapelwlder orf fastening device 2 securedruponhthe end thereof. From the point 11, the said wire strand isbent as at 12 to conform to the contour or oonfig uration of the neck-yoke l the said curved portion 12 engaging the under face of the said yoke within a recess 13 provided therefor within the said yoke. The opposite end of the arm 6 from that of the engaging tongue 8 is provided with an extension 14 disposed to normally engage the under face of the neck-yoke 1 upon the opposite side of the band 3 from that of the said tongue 12, this engagement normally forcing the tongue 12 into yieldable yet firm engagement with the recess 13 of the yoke.

By the arrangement of a spring arm constructed as above described, it will be seen that the pole-strap when arranged over the extremity or end of the neck-yoke 1 is securely fastened thereupon by reason of its engagement with theband 3 upon one side,

and the tongue 8 upon the other. By forcing the arms 6 downwardly or away from the yoke 1 it will be seen that the tongue 8 is withdrawn from engagement with the said yoke thereby permitting the pole-strap to be fastened to be forced or slid over the end of the neck-yoke and between the band 3 and tongue 8, the said strap when thus placed with respect to the neck-yoke attachment being securely fastened against lateral movement independent of the attachment and yoke. The tongue 8 being seated within the recess 13 allows the pole-strapwhen fastened over the neck-yoke to move freely over the bent portion 12 without disengaging the tongue 8 from the yoke and supporting the strap in proper place and preventing accidental'removal thereof under all circumstances. To unfasten or remove the strap, the tongue 8 is withdrawn from engagement with the recess 13 and the strap moved oppositely from the manner in which it is placed or fastened.

It will be seen from the above, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings that the pole-strap acted upon may be fastened and removed by simply forcing the arm 6 away from the yoke 1; thatbythe provision of the extension 14 formed from the same strand of wire as the said arm 6 and the tongue 8, the latter is normally held into firm engagement with the seat provided therefor; and that the bolt 5 employed for the purpose of fastening the band ends together acts as a support for the arm 6 over which the coils 7 are arranged.

It will be understood that the above description and accompanying drawings com prehend only the general and preferred eming bent at each end' to yieldingly engage the neck-yoke, one 'end of the element fitting the recess aforesaid for the purpose speck fied.

2. A strap fastening device for neck-yokes including a detachable band, a spring arm composed of a single strand of wire carried by the said band, an engaging tongue formed from the said wire strand at one end thereof adapted to normally engage the said yoke for fastening a strap thereto, coils formed from the said wire strand for generating sufiicient spring tension to support the said tongue 1nto engagement with the said yoke,

and an extension formed from the said wire 7 strand upon the opposite end thereof from that of the said tongue adapted to engage the said yoke for additionally supporting the tongue into engagement therewith, as and for the purpose set forth.
