Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 115,346, dated May 30, 1871.

y" Ypsilanti, iu the county of; Washtenaw and y Stateof Michigan, haveinventedcertain new 1, and useful Improvements in Breast-Collars; s #and Ido hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description therey. of, reference beingh'adto the accompanying `j `drawing and to the letters of reference marked i thereonwhich form a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the i *construction and arrangement of a breast-collar, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable` others skilled in the art to which lny invention appertains to make and H "use the same, Iwill now proceed to describe its construction ands operation, referring to the f annexed drawing, which represents a perspective View of the breast-collar.
i A represents a metallic halfcircle, at suit- `iablepoints `upon the inner `circumference of if which are two stationary projections, a a. The .y end `of each of these projections is inserted `and pivoted in'` a slot in `the center ofa pad, B, thus making two adjustablepads, attached 4to the ring A. These pads` are constructed i fand latched in such a manner as'to bring the draft properly on the horses breast or shoulder and adapt themselves to the various motions of the horse, always having` a space of about four inches betwee'n them, thus relieving pressure from the throat. To the front of the ring A is attached a loop, b, in which may be fastened a pole-strap, C, so that this breastcollar may be used equally well for one or two horses. `Attached. to each side of this collar is a shortvtug, D, one of which I have represented as stationary and the other as adjustable. I reserve to myself, however, the right to use them either as represented, or both stationary, or both adjustable.
Having thus fully described my invention,
what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, ise j A breast-collar, composed of a metallic halfcircle and adjustable pads attached thereto, substantially for the purposes herein set forth.
