Our .invention has for its object to furnish an improved tieh for fastening bags and similar uses, which shall be simple in construction and safe and reliable in use, and which will enable bags to be tied and untied much quicker than is possible when fastened in the ordinary manner; and it consists in the tie vcon` structed and operating as hereinafter more fully described.
,A isa cord or wire, which is knottedor otherwise `formed into alseries of loops so -as to enable the tie to be applied with equal facility to larger or smaller bags or other articles to be tied. VOne of the end loops of the cord or wire A is passed through a slot in the short bar B, which slot extends from about the middle part of said bar nearly to one end, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The other or solid end of the bar B serves as a handle.
In using the tie the looped vcord or wire A t is passed around the bagor other article to be tied. The handle of the bar B is then passed through such a loop of the cord or Wire A that, when the said loop has been slid down to'the end of the bai` B or brought into the position shown in' Fig. 2, the said cord or tie will be drawn around the bag or other article with the necessary tightness. The handle or bar B is then turned back, throwing the loop through which it has been passed over the loop that passes through the slot of said handle, and the said handle is pushed forward, bringing the loop 4that passes through the slot of thephandle to the other end of the said slot, Or to about the middle part of said bar or handle, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1, securely. fastening the bag or other article being tied.
Having thus described our invention, we claim "as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The looped cord or wire A and slotted bar or handle B in combination with each other,
