i rarer crimen FLY-PAPER HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. '7, 1915.
Application filed September 23, 1914. Serial No. 863,143.
To all 'whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES P. PFEIFER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Humphrey, in the county of Platte, State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fly-Paper Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to holders for sticky fly-paper, and has for its object the provision of a holder of this character which will prevent the adhesive from running olf the paper, prevent soiling of the hands when handling the paper and which will permit the paper to be stood on edge or at an angle without danger of the adhesive running onto a table or other place where it is desired to place the paper.
An important object is the provision of a holder of this character into which the fly-paper may be inserted without any necessity for the awkward and diflicult sliding of the paper into the holder, a retaining member being detachable to facilitate the insertion of the paper.
Another object is the provision of a device of this character which will be extremely simple and inexpensive in manufacture, efficient and durable in use and a general improvement of thek art.
With these and other objects and advantages in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and combination of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a plan view of my holder in its assembled position and holding a sheet of sticky fly-paper, Fig.V 2 is a similar view showing the removable retaining member detached, and Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view.
Referring more particularly to the drawing the numeral 5 designates a sheet of metal, preferably tin, which is bent upwardly upon one longitudinal edge to form a flange 6, which extends inwardly from the edge and in spaced parallel relation to the sheet 5. The opposite longitudinal' edge is bent vertically upward to form a ange 7.
The sheet of sticky fly-paper 8 is inserted into the holder by sliding one longitudinal edge under the flange 6, whereupon it will fall flat upon the sheet 5 with its other longitudinal edge immediately adjacent the flange 7. In order that this second edge of the flyepaper may be secured in place, I provide a retaining member 9 which is substantially U-shaped in cross-section and which is disposable over the flange 7. The member 9 is secured in place by means of a screw 10 which extends upwardly from the sheet 5 adjacent the flange 7 and which passes through a hole in the member 9, a thumb or wing nut 11 being threaded upon the screw l0. After the sheet of ily-paper 8 has been inserted as previously described, the member 9 is engaged over the flange 7 and secured in place by the screw 10 and nut 11, whereupon it will engage the top of the fly-paper and prevent it from removal.
From the foregoing description and a study of the drawing it will be apparent that I have thus provided a simple, novel, very inexpensive and highly efficient holder for fly-paper whereby the fly-paper may be supported in any desired position upon any desired place without any possibility of the running off of the sticky matter and which will facilitate the handling of the fly-paper without any danger of soiling the hands or having the paper turn over as so frequently happens.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
As an article of manufacture, a holder ofy the class described comprising a plate having one side edge bent to form a channeled receiving portion, the other side edge of said plate being bent upwardly, a clamping strip of channel shape adapted to seat on said upwardly turned edge portion and to clampingly engage with the4 plate, and means for procuring such clamping engagement comprising a clamping screw passed through the adjacent portion of the plate and through the channel member.
In testimony whereof, I afx my signature, in the presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES P. PFEIFER.
Witnesses:
CHAs. J. WHEELER, A. CAULEY.
