IMPROVEMENT IN ATTACHING HANDLES TO PLOWS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 115,069, dated May 23, 1871.
To whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J OHN L. LAUGHLIN, of Peru, in the county of La Salle and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in the Method of Attaching Handles to Flows; and I do declare that the following is a true and accurate description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon and being a part of this specification, in which my improvement is shown in perspective attaching to an iron-beam plow, the mold-board being omitted.
The nature of this invention relates to an improved method of attaching handles to plow-beams in such a manner that the same will be raised above the land-side, and thus prevent clogging. It consists in attaching a stay-bar to the side of the handle, so as to overlap and be bolted to the standard; in an ironbeam plow being provided with a lug to fit into the groove in the standard, as more fully hereinafter set forth.
In the drawing, A represents the lower or standard portion of an iron plow-beam, to which the mold-board and laud-side are secured in the usual manner.
