Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 17, 1915.
7 Application filed November 12, 1914. Serial-No. 871,734.
State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Nets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to theaccompanying draw- I ings. V V g p v This invention relates to certain lmprove ments 1n nets and has relatlon more particularly to a device of this general character especially designed and adapted for] use as a flynet for animals; andthe object of the invention is to provide a novel and improved device of this character whereby the cords are eflectively maintained in their predeter-v mined spaced relation and gaged with the fabric :bars,
The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved net whereby certain important advantages are-attainedand the device is rendered simpler, lessexpensive and otherwlse more convenlent and advantageous for use,
all as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The novel featuresof the invention will be carefully definedin the appended claims.-
In order that my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein-- Figure 1 is a fragmentary view in top plan of anet constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention, one of the flexible bars therein included being omitted inorder to illustrate in detail certainfeatures of the invention; and Fig. 2 is a fragmentary view in'plan of the net as herein embodied, moved. r
As disclosedin the accompanying drawings, 1 denotes theconventional strands or cords adapted to be disposed between'the plies 2 of the flexible bars B, said plies being operatively connected one with the other through the medium of the rows 3 of stitchefi'ectively en-f strands or cords thoug with a ply of a flexible bar reing, and which rows of stitching are also adapted to maintain the strands in predetermined spaced relation.
In order to assure the proper spacing of the strands 1, I find it of advantage to employ in connection therewith the tie memposed between the plies 2 of each of the flexible bars B, said bars B being of a number which best meets the requirements of practice. i
5 It will be observed that the tie members 4 possess sufficient rigidity as to positively maintain the strands in their predetermined spaced relation and it will also be readily perceived that the tie members l prevent the 1 from slipping longitudinally between the plies 2 of thebar B,
especlally in such instances when the stitch- I mg falls to catch a cord or strand.
From the foregoing description,- it is t to be obvious that a net constructed in accordance with my invention, is of an extremely simple and comparatively inexpenslve nature and is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and. facility with which it may be assembled, and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of 'somechange and modificationwithout material departure from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice.
I claim:
1. A net comprising a flexible bar consisting of superimposed plies, cords directed between the plies of the bar, and a substantially rigid member engaged with thecords and positioned between the plies of the bar rigid member consisting of strands of wire strands of wire twisted one about the othei' twisted one about the other and with which and with which the cords intermesh. 10 L the cords intermesh. In testimony whereof I hereunto aifix my 2. A net comprising a plurality of cords, signature in the presence of two witnesses.
and a substantially rigid member engaged i EDWARD W,,ANDEREG G.
