Description

man@ srA'rEs PATENT oEEicE.
GEORGE REIVINSNIDER, 0F BELLEVILLE, ILLINOIS, SSIGNOR TO IDEAL STENCIL MACHINE COMPANY, OIE BELLEVILLE, ILLINOIS, A CORPORATION 0F ILLINOIS.
MARKING-POT.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Alig. 17, 1915.
Application filed May 17, 1912. Serial No. 698,072.
To all 107mmz't may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE REMNsNmER, a citizen of the United4 States of America, residing at Belleville, county of St. Clair, State of Illinois, have invented a certain new and useful Marking-Pot, of which the following is such a full, clear, and exact description as will enableV any one skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to theV accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
My invention relates to a marking pot such as is used to supply ink to a stencil brush. In order that the stencil brush may operate properly, it is necessary that neither too much nor too little ink be supplied to the same.
The object of my invention is to provide a marking pot which, while simple in construction, will effectively operate to supply the proper amount of ink to the brush. j
In the accompanying drawings, which illustrate one form of marking pot made in accordance with my invention, Figure l is a top plan view, and Fig. 2 is a section on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Like marks of reference refer to similar parts in both views of the drawings.
5 represents the body of the marking pot, which is cylindrical in form and'may be made of any suitable material, but prefer ably of sheet metal. The body 5 is provided with the usual handle 6.
, 7 is the cover of thev marking pot. This cover is cup-shaped in form and has a rounded edge, as shown at 8 in Fig. 2. Formed in the cover 7 at one side of the center of same is a rectangular opening 9. Adjacent to this opening 9, the cover is provided with a pair of downwardly projecting lugs or brackets 10, in which is journaled the shaft l1 of a cylindrical member 12. This member l2 projects upwardly through the opening 9 in the cover and is adapted to carry ink upwardly from the body 5 of the pot and supply the same to the stencil brush which is passed over the upper side of the cover which acts as a distributing surface. The rounded corners 8 serve as a guide for directing the brush in a circular path as it` is passed over the distributing surface. Thev arrangement of the cylindrical member 12 at one side of the center of the cover with Copies of this patent may be obtained for slow rotary movement will be imparted to the said member 12 so as to carry the ink upwardly from the body of the marking'pot f and supply it to the brush. This movement,
however, will not be great enough to cause `an over supply of ink, as would be the case if the brush passed over the rotary member at right angles to its axis. Even with ymy improvedv form of ink supplying device, however, it is necessary to make some provision for removing the supertluousink from the brush. This I accomplish by providing the cover 7 withl a number of openings 13 over which the brush passes and which allow any superfluous ink to pass back into the reservoir 5. I also prefer to provide the cover with .a larger opening 14 through which an ordinary marking brush may be inserted when it is desired to use the pot as an ordinary marking pot.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
l. A marking pot having a reservoir .for
the ink, a curved path-way forming a guide ffor the brush, and a rotarycylindrical ink raising member having its axis tangential to a portion of said path-way, whereby the brush is guided Vacross said ink raising member in yan oblique direction.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal in the presence of the two subscribing witnesses. V
GEO. REMNSNIDER. [Ls] Witnesses:
