vIMPROVEMENT IN SPRING GUARDS FOR LEGS OF FURNITURE.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making parl: of the Isame.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DANIEL F. HARTMAN, of Charles City, in the county of Floyd and State of Iowa, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Spring Guard; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof,
-which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification.
This invention relates to a new' and useful improvement in constructing and arranging a suitable casing or guard for spiral springs, designed for the legs ot bedsteads, chairs, sofas, settees, Sac.; and consists in a hollow tubular casing for containing the spring, and
in a socket or box to work inside the casing for re' This casing is made of any suitable metal, and of the required length and diameter toriit it for the use intended.

'lhe form of the casingv may be modified, if desired, so as to adapt the socket and spring to sofas and settees, and all'sirnilar purposes'.
Fis a hole in the socket, by which the latter is fastened to theleg. v
By this arrangement the spring is securely guarded, the socket is kept in its proper place, and the whole readily applied for the uses designed.
