To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EDWARD J. WALooTT, J r., a citizen of the United States, residing at San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Necktie Supporters and Stretchers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to necktie supporters and stretchers, and one of the principal objects of the invention is to provide a device of exceedingly simple construction which will hold a tie or scarf in fiat and stretched condition and which will permit the ready attachment to and detachment from the stretcher whenever it is desired to place the tie therein or remove the tie therefrom.

Another object of the invention is to provide a device of simple construction for holdingfour-in-hand scarfs or neckties in proper condition for wear. F our-in-hand scarfs are very liable. to become wrinkled and mussed owing to the fact that a knot is to be tied in the scarf and pulled tightly in order to give the proper appearance. After the tie has been once worn and is wrinkled and untidy in appearance, it may be placed in a stretcher made in accordance with this invention and when it is ready to be used again it is in proper condition having been smoothed out and kept in stretched condition until it is ready for use.

The foregoing and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which,

Figure 1 is a side elevation of a necktie supporter and stretcher made in accordance with this invention, Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the same, and Fig. 3 is a perspective View of the stretcher with the tie removed.

Referring to the drawing the numeral 1 designates a base which may be formed of wood or metal of the desired strength and thickness, and secured to the base 1 at a point nearly central thereto is a pin 2 projecting from one surface of the base. A pin 3 is connected to the base 1 near one end thereof, and may be adjusted in any one of the holes 4: to accommodate scarfs or ties of greater length than the usual. Near the opposite end of the base 1 is a spring comprismg the two members 5 which lie substantially flat against the sides of the scarf or tie, said spring comprising a flat strip of resilient metal bent upon itself and secured by a fastener 7 to the base 1 and the two members 5 lying substantially parallel and flat against the tie to hold it firmly in place and in stretched condition. In order to secure the tie to the stretcher, the tie is doubled centrally and the loop is placed over the pin 2. The tie is then stretched around the pin 3 and connected to the spring 5.

From the foregoing it will be obvious that the base 1 may be extended, and that any suitable number of the tie stretchers may be secured to the base, and that the ties are readily connected and easily removed.

Various changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined in the claims.

What is claimed is 1. A necktie stretcher comprising a solid rectangular base, a pin rigidly secured centrally of said base, an adjusting pin mounted at one end of said base, a flat Vertical standing spring at the opposite end of said base, said spring having side members with their outer ends flared, adapted to hold the ends of a tie therein when placed around and connected to the pins.

2. A necktie stretcher comprising a solid rectangular base, said base having a plurality of openings at one end thereof, an adjusting pin seated in one of said openings, a second pin rigidly secured to said base centrally thereof, a flat spring having two upstanding fiat side members secured at the free end of said base and having their outer ends flared adapted to hold a tie that has been placed around and connected to the pins.
