To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FRANK K. Conn, a citizen of the United States, residing .at Pleasantville, in the county of Marion and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Harness-Hangers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings. i y

This invention relates to supports, and particularly to harness hangers for supporting articles of harness in stalls.

An object of this invention is the provision of a harness hanger with which the animals within the stalls will be prevented from rubbing the articles ofharness off of the hanger. v

A further object of this invention is the provision of a hanger which includes a plurality of supporting hooks, means being provided for engagement over the ends of the hooks after the harness has been mount ed thereon to prevent accidental disengagement of the articles of harness from the hooks. 1

With these and other objects in view, my invention consists in the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which the figure is a perspective view of a harness hanger constructed in accordance with my invention.

Referring more particularly to the drawing, the numeral 1 designates a supporting or base plate to which a. vertically disposed rod 2 is rotatably connected by staples 3 or the like which engage around the rod and are embedded at their ends inthe supporting plate. The rod 2 is provided with laterally bowed portions intermediate 40f its ends, which portions provide hooks 4 upon which articles of harness may be mounted, and the upper end of the rod is also disposed laterally as at 5 in vertical alinement with the hooks 4, the extremity of the laterally directed portion 5 being curved to form an eye 6. A locking member is provided which comprises a length of flexible wire which is curved intermediate of its ends to provide a pair of legs 7. The legs 7 are twisted around each other to form a loop 8 at the juncture of the legs, the legs being thence spaced apart for a short distance and again twisted to provide a second loop 9 which is arranged inspaced relation from the loop 8. The free ends of the lugs 7 are also spaced apart and are provided at theirv extremities with eyes 10, the eyes 10 being adapted to register with the eye 6 formed on the rod 2, whereby a bolt 11 may be disposed through the registering eyes and a nut 12 threaded on the bolt to pivotally secure the locking member to the laterally extending upper end5 of the rod 2. Connected to the supporting plate 1 adjacent its lower end is a flexible cord 13 or the like, to the free end of which a snap hook 14 is connected.

; In the practical use of my improved hanger, the supporting plate 1 is secured to a wall or post in a stall, and when articles of harness are hung upon the hooks 4, the locking member is swung downwardly so that the loops 8 and 9 will pass over the outer ends of the hooks 4, whereupon the snap hook 14- may be engaged with the lowermost hook 4 outwardly of the lower end of the locking member to hold the looking member in position around the outer ends of the hooks, whereby disengagement of the articles of harness from the hooks is prevented until the snap hook is disengaged from the lower hook 4.

It will be readily understood that when the locking member is not desired for use, the same may be held in a raised position out of the way of the hooks, by tightening the nut 12 upon the bolt so that the eyes 10 of the locking member will be bound against the opposite sides of the eye 6. It will also be seen that by rotatably connecting the rod 2 to the supporting plate, the hooks may be swung to either side when the same are not in use so that there will be no unnecessary parts projecting into the stall.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I desire to claim and secure by Letters Patent is 1. A harness hanger including a supporting plate, a rod rotatably connected to the plate, said rod having its intermediate portion bent upon itself to form alined hook members, one end of the rod being projected laterally from the base plate and arranged in alinement with the hook members and a retaining member pivotally connected to the laterally projected end of the rod and adapted for engagement with the hook members 2. An article support including a plurality of permanently connected article supporting elements,'said article supporting members being mounted for swinging movement, as a unitary device, and swingingly mounted means movable into position for holding supporting articles against displacement, said means being movable with the supporting members. 7 e V 3. A device of the character described. comprising a supporting plate, a rod rotatably connected to the plate, said rod having portions thereof bowed laterally to provide supporting hooks, one end of said rod being also directed laterally and curved to form an eye, a' retaining member comprising a length of wire curved intermediate of its ends to form a pair of legs, the extremities of said legs being looped to form eyes adapted for registration with the first mentioned eyes, means disposed through said registering eyes to pivotally connect the retaining member to said rod, said retaining member being adapted for engagement over the outer ends of saidhooks, and means for holding the retaining member ineffective position.

, 4., A device of the character described comprising a supporting plate, a rod rotatably'oonneoted'to thesupporting plate, portions of said rodbeing bowed ontwardlyto provide supporting hooks, a retaining member comprising a length of wire bent intermediate of its ends to form a pair of legs, the extremities of said legs being pivotally connected to one end of said rod, said legs being twisted at intervals along their length to provide spaced loops, said loops being adapted for engagement over the outer ends of said hooks, and means for holding the re taining member in effective position.

5. An article support including a base plate, a plurality of permanently connected article supporting members extending laterally therefrom and swingingly secured thereto, said article supporting members be ing permanently connected to swing as a unitary device, and a retaining member pivotally attached to one of the article supporting members, said retaining member being provided with a plurality of longitudinally spaced loops adapted to embrace the individual article supporting members I01 lfiolding articles against displacement thererom.
