curves ,on which they are formed, should. have a diametenconsiderably greatefi than the vertical-dimensions of the rockers, soas to thereby give an increasing resistance'to movements of the bolster from its normal or intermediate position, and sothat also, the bolster, under the wei ht ofthe load thereon, will be automatical y returned to its normal intermediate position and yieldingly held in such position. I
- The improved lateral motion hearing may, of course, be applied in car trucks or other railway trupks, elsewhere thanv between the truck side frames ,or parts mounted thereon, and the truck bolster. Infact, they may. be. applied at any desirable place between Y the car truck body and the wheels, where they will operate to permit lateral movements of the said body in respect to the plates havingapproximately flat rocker engaging surfa'cesand stops at the extremities thereof, of rockers interposed between the said flat bearing surfaces of said upper and lower bearing plates and having their sides formed on reentrant lines that interrupt their curved plate-engaging surfaces, the said rentrant surfaces being directly engageable with said stops to align said rockers and re-set the same properly, in respect to said stops, the said curved plate-engaging surfaces of said rockers being online which moi-ease the'diameters of the cross sectlons thereof,'when measured through the axes of I said rocliers obliquely to a normalperpen= diciiliar t tough the axes thereof.
In testimony whereof I afiix. my signature in presence of two witnesses.
