Description
R. B. SELLARS.
STOVE. APPLICATION FILED MAR. I7, 1915- 1,143,079, Patented June 15, 1915.
' that type which are particularly designed STOVE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RUFUs B. SELLARs, a citizen of the United States, residing in Obion county, Tennessee, near Fulton, in the county'of Fulton and State'of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Im provements inStoves, of which the following is a specification, reference beinghad to the accompanying drawings.
My present invention relates broadly to new and furnaces and has particular reference to I01 use in heating the contents of an evaporator pan.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a stove of this character which is relatively simple in construction and may, therefore, be cheaply manufactured and will be durable and efficient in service.
Another object is to so construct the stove that the parts thereof may be readily disassembled and packed when not in use, in a relatively small space for storage or shipment.
The above, and other incidental objects of a similar nature, whichwill be hereinafter more specifically treated are accomplished by such means as are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, described in the following specification and then more particularly pointed out in the claims which are appended hereto and form a part of this application.
above the ground or face on which the stove 1s placed. These With reference to the drawings, wherein there has been illustrated the preferred embodiment of this invention as it is reduced to practice, and throughout the several views of which similar reference numerals designate corresponding parts, Figure l is a side elevation; Fig. 2 is a top plan view; and
*Fig. 3 is a transverse section on the line 33, Fig. 1
In the accompanying drawings, the numeral 10 designates the base or bottom wall of the stove. This bottom wall is preferably formed from a rectangular sheet of galvanized iron or similar material, the longitudinal edges of which are bent downwardly at right angles, producing the flanges 11 and 12. A plurality of legs, preferably three, are provided to support the bottom wall 10 other supporting surlegs, designated by the numerals 13, 14 and 15, are also formed from strips of sheet Specification of Letters Patent.
useful improvements in stoves oropenings 36 which may be seale against movement by attaching plates 40.

metal which are inwardly bent into a U- shape and are then bent at their extreme terminals to provide the feet 16. The bight portions of the legs are secured by bolts 17 to the bottom wall, while the vertical portions of the legs are secured to the flanges l1:
and 12 by bolts 18. Rising from the longitudinal edges of the bottom wall, are the i braces or straps 19 which are formed from strips of sheet metal bent into an L-shape. The horizontal portion of these braces 19 are secured by the bolts 17 to the bottom wall.
The rectangular casing designated as an entirety bythe numeral 21, includes a perimetrical frame'22, the end Walls 23 and 24 and the side walls 25 and 26. The frame 22 includes the side members 27 and 28 and the members 29 and 30. The terminals of the members 27 and 28 are bent at right angles andare interposed between the end walls 23 and 24 and the members 29 and 30. Bolts indicated at 31 pass through the end walls, the terminals of the members 27 and 28 and through the members 29 and 30. Bolts indicated at 32 secure the side walls 25 and 26 to themembers 27 and 28 and to the braces 19. Each side Wall is provided at its lower portion with a door 33 which extends the entire length of the stove and is 35 supported by hinges 34 which are connected to the flanges 11 and 12. Pivoted latches indicated at 35, are employed in holding the doors in closed position. The end walls 23 and 24 are provided with a lurality of d by the pivoted draft plates 37. When it is desired to admit an additional supply of air to the stove, the plates 37 may be turned to uncover the openings 36. w
On the bottom wall 10 are disposed in parallel relation to each other, a' pair of pipes or tubes 38 and 39 which are secured The adjacent terminals of the pipesat one 109 end of the casing are equipped with elbows 41, from which relatively short pipes 42 lead to a T joint 431 The stem of the T joint leads through the adjacent end wall and is connected bya pipe 44, elbow 45 and pipe 46 to the oil tank 47. At a number of intermediate points on each of the pipes are secured burners 48, into which the oil from the tank 47 is fed by gravity. In this connection it will, of course, be apparent 11@ that the oil tank is disposed above the level of the pipes. When the stove is to be em ployed in connection with an evaporator pan. the plane of the perimeter of the top of the stove is inclined toward one end, so that a gravity flow of material through the evaporator pan will occur. Obviously, if the stove is to be used in connection with a boiler or the like, the perimeter of the upper edge may lie in a horizontal plane.
From the foregoing description, it will be seen that I have provided a relatively simple oil burning stove which is so constructed that it may be quickly knocked down or assembled. When the stove 1s 1n use, the evaporator pan may be rested upon the top of the stove,in which position it will be exposed to all of the flames of the burner.
In reduction to practice, it has been found that the form of this invention illustrated in the drawings and referred to in the above description as the preferred embodiment is the most efficient and practical; yet realizing that the conditions concurrent with the adoption of this device will necessarily vary, it is desirable to emphasize the fact that various minor changes in details of con struction, proportion and arrangement of parts may be resorted to, when required, without sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention, as defined by the appended claims. r
What is claimed is LA stove including a bottom wall, de-
ending flanges formed on the longitudinal edges thereof, a plurality of U-shaped supporting legs secured to the bottom wall, the vertical portions of the legs being secured to the flanges, a casingrising from the bottom wall, said 1 casing consisting of indeendent side and end walls, and a frame detachably connecting the upper edges thereof, a plurality of burners arranged within the casing, and means for supplying fuel to the burners.
2. A stove including a bottom Wall, de-
pending flanges formed on the longitudinal edges thereof, a plurality of U-shaped sup porting legs secured to the bottom wall, the vertical portions of the legs being secured to the flanges, a casing rising from the bottom wall, said casing consisting of independcnt'side and end walls and a frame detachably connecting the upper edges thereof, a door inserted ineach side wall and extending the entire length thereof, a
plurality of burners arranged within; the
casing, and means for supplying fuel to the burners. I V
3. A stove of the character described including a bottom Wall, supporting legs detachably secured thereto, a plurality of braces detachably sccnredto and rising from the bottom wall, a pair of side walls de tachably secured" to the braces, a pair of end walls, frame members dctachably sccured to the upper edges of the side walls, said frame members having their terminals riglitangularly directed, bolts passing through the end walls and through the 'right-angularly directed terminals of the frame members, whereby the end walls are detachably connected to the side walls, a plurality of burners mounted above the bottom wall, and means for supplying fuel to the vburners.
i. A stove including a casing comprising independent side and end w lls,a sectional frame detachably connecting the upper edges thereof, a door inserted in one of the walls, a plurality of burners arranged withinlthe casing, and means for. supplying fuel to the burners.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
