This, invention relates to life boats and has tor its object to provide a boat of such class, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, having a closed hull and further having means in a manner as hereinafterset forth, for propei ling the boat as well as ventilating the hull.-

Further objects of the invention are to provide a life boat which is comparatively simple in its construction and arrangement, strong, durable, edlcient and convenient Iin its use, and comparatively inexpensive.

With the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of Iparts as hereinafter more specifically described and illustrated'in-the accompanying drawings wherein is shown an embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which come within the scope of the claims hereunto appended.

The drawing illustrates partly in section and partly in elevation life boat in accordance with this invention.

Referring to the drawing the hull of the boat is formed with a lower section 1, and an upper section 2,/each substantially elliptical in plan. ,The stern of the hull is flat as at 3 and hinged 'to f1, is arudder 5, the latter having its upper end provided -with a lateral extension 6, which pro]` ects into `the hull and is connected with any su'table means, not shown, for the purpose of turning the rudderwhen desired.

Arranged below the rudder 5 is a propeller by a propeller shaft 8, the latter extending into the section 1 of `the hull, above the lower shaft 8 is connected with any suitable drive mechanism, not shown.

That portion of the hull below the deck 9 forms a .water reservoir 35,- and extending down into said reservoir 35', is a water feed y not shown, and leading from the pump are water supply pipes 37, 38 Jfrom the decks 9, and 11 to 16.

A stair way 39 associates with the decks 9, and 11 to 16.

Any suitable means may be employed so that access may be had to the decks 18 lto v23.

Section 2 of the hull is provided with windows 89 and doors A0. At Vthetop of the section 2 ofthe hull a signaling device, such as an electric lamp, which is indicated at 11, is provided.

l/Vhat we claim is 1. A lifeboat comprising a hull formed of two hollow substantially semi-elliptical sections secured together toprovide inclosures, a plurality of vertical and horizontal partitions arranged therein to provide superposed decks therein, certain of the vertical partitions being spaced apart to provide chambers therebetween, aplurality of hol. low stems arranged. in said chambers and projecting through the upper section of said hull, the extreme upper ends thereof being enlarged and designed to form cowls, and a said SteinsY and projectingV laterally thereraeeaeea aune areas.
