T0 all'whom it may concern Be it known that I, AUGUsT H. EISENMANN, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Device for Cleaning and Polishing Knives, Forks, and Spoons,,of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to a new and useful improvement in a device for cleaning and forks and spoons, and consists inproviding a plurality of cleaning or polishing surfaces with means for locating the same inoperative position and means for holding the same in such position.

It further consists of a body portion in pivoted relation to a handle, said body portion having offsets, with a polishing means carried by each off-set and each means having a face different from the faces of the other polishing means.

It further consists tures of construction, after fully set forth.

For the purpose of illustrating my invention, I have of other novel feaall as will behereinshown in the accompanying drawings one form thereof which is at present preferred by me, since the same has been found in practice to give satisfactory and reliable results, although it is to be understood that the various instrumentalities of which my invention consists can be variously arranged and organized and that my invention is not limited to the precise arrangement and organization of these instrumentalities as herein shown and described.

Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a device for cleaning and polishing knives, forks and spoons, embodying my invention, showing the same in use upon a knife. Fig. 2 represents a vertical sectional view showing the device applied to a spoon and with the proper polishing surface in operative position. Fig. 3 represents an end elevation showing the device in use for cleaning the prongs of a fork.

Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in the figures.

Referring to the drawings :1 designates a grasping handle which is of any suitable style or construction, and provided with arms 2 forming a yoke.

5, 6 and 7 designate off-sets from the body portion suitably spaced apart and provided on their outer faces with suitable serrations or roughened portions 8 and one of said OK- sets, as here shown, 6, being provided with a recess or seat 9 formed at a suitable point on the ends thereof. To each of the offsets is suitably secured in any desired manner, a polishing or cleaning means, and, as here shown, I have connected with the ofiset 5 the polishing means 10, which is provided with a flat outer face 11 which forms the operative surface and is adapted for use upon a knife. The offset 6 is provided with a polishing or cleaning means 12 which is provided with a suitably rounded outer face 13 which forms the operative surface thereof and which is adapted for use in cleaning and polishing forks, the same being rounded in order to accommodate itself to the rounded portion of the fork which is formed between the prong and the handle portion, while seated in the recesses 9 is a portion of the polishing or cleansing means forming a ll-shaped projecting member 14 spaced from the end 15 of the polishing means 12 and leaving a space 16'therebetween, said space serving to receive one of the prongs of the fork with the projection or projecting portion 14: adapted to pass between the prong and the next adjacent prong. The offset 7 is provided with the polishing and cleansing means 17 which is provided with a suitably rounded out face 18, which is suitably formed in order to properly contact with and clean the bowl of a spoon, the construction being best seen in Fig. 2.

In order to locate the proper polishing or cleansing means in its operative position, I have provided means for permitting rotation of the body portion with respect to the handle and I have provided means for securing the desired polish or cleansing means in operative position. As here shown, I have, at suitable intervals in the body portion, provided openings 19, one in suitable relation with respect to a polishing or cleansing means and I have provided a pin 20 which is supported by or carried by one of the arms 2, as here shown, and which is adapted to enter the proper opening 19 in the body portion for locking the desired polishing means in operative position.
