Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EMIL DEISTER, residing at Fort Wayne, in the county of Allen and State of Indiana, a citizen of the United States, have invented or discovered certain new and useful Improvements in Rocking Supports for Concentrating-Tables,
of which improvements the following is a centrating machine, showing the improved end supports in position; Fig. 2 is a sectional view of an end support, and Fig. 3 is a plan view of the base of the support.
In the practice of my invention the base 1 of the support is provided with suitable means as flanges 2 whereby it may be bolted to the channels 3 forming the central and main frame of the table or to other suitable .foundation. The ends of the base are enlarged and are provided with sockets 4c preferably conical for the reception of blocks 5 having circular recesses or seats formed therein for the receptions of balls 7. The main frame 8 of the support is made U- shaped so as to straddle the main frame. The ends of the legs of the frame are provided with conical sockets 9 for the reception of blocks 10 which are provided with circular recesses or seats for the reception of the balls 7. The cross-arm of the U shaped frame is also provided with a central socket 11 for the block 12 having a circular seat for a ball 13 on which rests a plate 14; secured to the underside of the tables and provided with a circular seat for the ball.
It is characteristic of the construction shown herein that the balls on which the table rests are in line with the points at which the table operating mechanisms are attached to the table while an extended base for the rocking movement is provided.
As will be readily understood the balls forming the lower centers of movement should have their centers in a common vertical plane at right angles to the direction of vibration, a condition diflicult of attainment without very accurate machine work, on account of the springing or warping of the castings. In order to accomplish this accurate adjustment the circular seats in the block 5 for the base 1 are made eccentric as shown in Figs. 2 and 3 so that by simply turning these blocks in the sockets the balls may be shifted until their centers are in a common plane as above stated. It will be understood that unless the castings are very much Warped or twisted only one of the blocks will need to have an eccentric seat.
As shown in Figs. 2 and 3 the enlargements at the ends of the base are provided with rims 15 to form pockets for the reception of a suitable lubricant. Curtains 1.6 are formed on the lower ends of the U- shaped frame to extend down a short distance outside of the rims 15 so as to prevent the entrance of dirt, etc.
It is characteristic of my improvement that the sockets carrying the rocking membars are fixed in position, and although it is desirable that these sockets should be arranged when placing a table in a plant, in a line at right angles to the direction of vibration of the table, extreme accuracy in the arrangement of the sockets is not necessary, as by the shifting of the blocks a in the sockets the desired alinement of the lower points of movement of the framesScan be effected. It is preferred that the sockets 4 should be integrally connected to a common base as shown, as such construction affords a ready means for securing the sockets in position especially when the sockets are to be carried by a centrally arranged frame.
I claim herein as my invention:
1. A rocking support for concentrating tables having in combination a base provided with a plurality of circular seats, one of said seats being adjustable horizontally with reference to the other seat, balls arranged in said seats, a rocking member provided with seats for said balls, and having a bearing for the table.
2. A rocking support for concentrating tables having in combination a base provided with sockets, blocks adapted to fit in said sockets and provided with circular seats, the
seat in one of the blocks being eccentric, balls arranged in seats, and a rocking member provided with seats for said balls and with a bearing for the table.
. 3. A concentrating table having in combination therewith sockets arranged in pairs at, right angles to the direction of vibration of the table and provided With circular seats, U-shaped rocking supports provided at the ends of the legs with circular seats and having a bearing for the table midway of its horizontal portions, balls arranged in the seats of the sockets and legs, and means for shifting'the point of support of one of the legs of the U-shaped part horizontally with reference to the points of support of the other leg. v
A. A concentrating table having in combination therewith a central supporting frame, pairs of sockets secured to the frame at right angles to the direction of the table, said sockets being provided with circular seats, U-shaped rocking supports arranged astride of the central frame and provided at the ends of their legs with circular seats and having a bearing for the table midway of their horizontal portions, balls arranged in the seats in the sockets and legs, and means for shifting horizontally a ball of each pair With reference to the other ball thereof.
5. A concentrating table having in combination therewith an inverted U-shaped rocking support provided on its upper end with a bearing for the table, bearings on which the ends of the legs of the U-shaped member have a rocking movement, and means for shifting the bearing point of one of the legs horizontally.
6. A rocking support for concentrating tables having in combination sockets, blocks arranged in the sockets and provided with circular seats, one of the blocks being adjustable horizontally in the socket to change the position of its seat relative to the seat in the other block, balls arranged in said seats, and a rocking member provided with seats for said balls and having a bearing for the table.
7. A rocking support for concentrating tables having in combination sockets, blocks arranged in said sockets and provided with circular seats, the seat in one of the blocks being eccentric, balls arranged in the seats, and a rocking member provided with seats for the balls and with a bearing for the table.
