To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, KEITH H. Room, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Tie- Forms, of which the following is a specification.

The general object of this invention is the provision of a neck tie form which is so constructed as to enable a person to easily and neatly secure a tie thereto, and to this end the invention consists in providing a single length of wire bent into novel form for the reception of said tie.

In carrying out the object of the invention generally stated above, it will be understood, of course, that the essential features thereof are susceptible to changes in details and structural arrangements, preferred and practical embodiments being shown in the accompanying drawing, where- 1n:

Figure 1 is a front elevation of a preferred form of the invention. Fig. 2 is a similar View showing a tie applied thereto, a collar being shown in dotted lines. Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse sectional view through a portion of the form. Fig. 4 is an edge elevation of the form. Fig. 5 is a front elevation of a slightly modified form.

Referring more particularly to the accompanyin drawing in which like reference characters esignate similar parts, it will be seen that the invention comprises a single length, of wire, generally indicated by a, said wire being made of any suitable material and bent medially the ends thereof to provide a loop 5 which is adapted to engage a collar button in order to retain the form in engagement with the collar button and thereby secure the neck tie in an adjusted position. The wire is then crossed as indicated at 6 and the ends thereof are passed through a cylindrical tube 7, the ends of said tube being adapted to engage the bent portions 8 of the wire a whereby to retain the neck tie form in its original shape. After passing through the tube 7 the free ends of the wire a are bent so as to diverge at an angle from said tube and are also curved rearwardly to form arcuate collar engaging arms 9. The free extremities of the arms 9 are bent upon themselves as indicated at 10 so as to prevent tearing or otherwise marring the material from which the collar is made.

It will be particularly noted from Figs. 3 and 4 of the drawings that the sections of the wire passing through the tube 7 are in ofi'set relation and that said tube has a diameter materially greater than the diameter of the wire making up the form. By reason of this arrangement it will be obvious that a certain movement of the arms 9 independent of their resiliency is permitted through the play of the wire in the tube. This permits a yielding of the arms in their adjustment with respect to the collar without distorting or disturbing the device as a whole.

In applying a neck tie to the form, the latter is first grasped at the loop 5 between the thumb and fore finger of either hand and after adjusting the tie to its proper length the same is held in position by the thumb and is turned over the tube 7 and around one of the arcuate arms 9. The tie is then passed over the thumb and around the other arcuate arm 9 and the free extremity of the tie is then passed through the space formed by a portion of the tie engaged between the loop 5 and the portion passing over the thumb and said end is then drawn taut in order to make the tie conform to the contour of the form.

In Fig. 5 of the drawing there is shown a slight modification in which the loop 5 is bent in a slightly difierent manner from that of the corresponding loop in the preferred form in order that the form may be attached to difierent kinds of collar buttons.

From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, it will be seen that the invention contemplates providing a neck tie form which is exceedingly simple in construction thus reducing the cost of manufacture of the same to a minimum and which is durable and eflective in carrying out the purpose for which it is designed.
