In the arrangement of parts as above described it will be seen that a single pressing in of the operating button H will successively break the circuit to the spark plug N, close the circuitiato the lamp C and then reopen the same and finally close the circuit to the lamp C. This operation is moreover accomplished irrespective of the position of rotative adjustment of the operatingv but ton H. While -I have shown circuits leading to two lamps only, it is obvious that a greater number of *la'mps could-be successively-lighted in a similar manner;

V I e fhur iiers'eaa j -be-r gu1ated er'i rely nde negate-r any maker carried by said operating member, a depressible contact member having a lead from a source of current and being in contact with said contact maker in all positions of adjustment of the latter, means for resiliently pressing said contact maker outward, a second contact member having a lead to a main ignition device and engaging said contact maker in the outward position of the latter, and a plurality of other contact members having leads to auxiliary ignition devices and positioned in the path of the contact maker so asto be successively engaged by said contact maker upon the longitudinal adjustment of the latter.
2. A combined gas and ignition controller, com rising a gas-control valve, a longitudina ly and rotatively adjustable operating member adapted on rotative adjustment to operate said gas-control valve, a contact maker carried by said operating member and normally spring-pressed outward, a depressible contact member having-a lead from a source of current and engaging said contact maker in all positions of rotative and longitudinal adjustment of said contact maker, a second contact member having a lead to a main ignition device and being positioned to engage said contact maker only in the outward position of the latter, a third contact member having a lead to an auxiliary ignition device and being engaged by said contact maker only on the inward osition of the latter, and a fourth contact member having a lead to an auxiliary ignition device, said fourth contact member having a depressible ball-contact engaged by said contact maker when the latter is out of contact with the second and third contact members.
