' same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

The object of the invention is to provide improved apparatus for building walls of concrete or other plastic material, and the invention consists in the novel construction and combination of parts, as hereinafter set forth.
In the accompanying drawings, illustrating the invention, the numeral 2, indicates the clamping walls or forms; 3 the boxed staging or platforms in connection therewith; 4 means for raising the forms, and 5 a corner mold or form. a
The forms 2 consist of parallel sides or parts 6, 6, and are made in sections of suitable length for convenience in their adjustment. Each section is provided with two adjusting devices 7 one near each end, such adjusting device consisting of a transverse right and left threaded screw 8, engaging threaded bracket arms 9 secured to each side 6 of the mold section. The screw 8 has wrench seats at its ends, and is designed, when turned by means of a suitable crank or lever, to cause the sides 6 of the section to move toward or from each other as may be required. The bracket arms have horizontal threaded extensions or elbows 1, to provide long bearings to secure parallel movement, and to hold the sides to adjustment. The forms may be provided over their lower edges on the inside with drill-pointed screws 10, designed to engage the concrete sufficiently to insure against any dropping or settling of the form. For the same purpose wedges 12 may be used under the lower ends of the bracket arms which carry the nuts of the adjusting devices. In order to hold the wedges they maybe slottedto engage bolts 18. The body of each mold side may be made of wood, and may be lined with metal, having such embossing or indentation as may be required in the superficial ornamentation or shaping of the concrete desired. Or, indenting strips 14 may be secured to the inside of the mold.
To each end of each mold side is secured a strong eye-bearing 15, and through opposite eye-bearings are passed removable purchase rods 16, which serve for connection with the lower ends of the lifting screws 17 which extend vertically upward. The connection of the lifting screws with the rods 16 is made secure and prevented from slipping by means of set screws 18.
The lifting device is indicated at 4. A transverse base piece 19, of suflicient length to span the mold section, is provided with a standard 20, centrally located and having a horizontally projecting stay extension 21, designed to engage the transverse portion of the adjacent adjusting device to prevent the standard from tipping when under strain. On each side of the standard the base piece '19 is'provided with slots 22 for the reception of bolts 23, designed to hold the bracket arms 24 to position, when adjusted, these bracket arms having hook ends 25 adapted to engage the eye-bearings 15 of the end of the section. The top of the standard is provided with bearings for a bevel pinion 26, and for a bevel gear wheel 27 engaging said pinion and adapted to be turned by means of a crank handle 28. The bevel pinion 26 is threaded in its central aperture to engage the upper portion of the lifting screw 17. Two of these lifting devices maybe sufli'cient for a set of apparatus.
The staging or platform on which the workmen stand is usually made in boxed form, as indicated at 3. These are secured to the mold sides 6 by means of iron brackets 27, and extend from end to end of the mold side. The foot board of each staging box is about on a level with the lower edge of the mold side, and the outer rail or guard 28, when used, should be about level with the top of the mold side. The staging devices are provided with movable clamps 29, having overhanging extensions 30 in which are pivoted pulleys 81 for use in raising material for the use of the workmen. The clamp may be readily adjusted to the stag ing guard at any point, and secured by means of an eccentric or cam lever 82.
The corner mold or form 5 is designed to be made of sheet metal, and is provided with vertically extending flanges 33, at right angles with each other and adapted to engage the ends of the outer sides 6 of corresponding mold sections. 7 Such a corner form may be attached to the ends of the outer sides of converging sections by means of screws. The corner mold or form may have any desired shape or configuration, and bearing brackets for use in connection therewith, as indicated at 34, may be provided for a right and left threaded screw, extending in a diagonal or mitral direction.
In order to assist in holding the forms in vertical position, when necessary, each side piece 6 may be provided with one or more stay braces extending downward and engagingthe finished portion of the concrete Wall.
In building a wall, the first or lowest course of concrete may be molded on the leveled foundation by means. of the mold sections, and when this course or any succeeding course of concrete wall is set, the proceeding is as follows: The lifting devices having been connected to the sections at the ends of the section to be moved, the lifting screws are turned up tight, so as to hold the intervening section from falling. Then the adjusting screws of the latter section' are operated to separate the sides of the section from the surfaces of the concrete wall. course, which has been allowed to set. Then, by means of the lifting devices, the sides of the mold section are raised to the proper distance for molding the next course, this distance however not being sufiicient to clear the finished course. Then, the adjusting screws are turned to move the mold sides toward each other until they engage the surfaces of the finished course by their lower portions, and, being supported thereby, form, with the top of such hardened or finished course, a partial mold. All the sections having been raised and simultaneously adjusted and secured, the mold is provided for filling in the next course. These operations of adjusting and lifting the mold sections are designed to be carried on by the workmen on the staging, and at any height of the wall. And it will be found convenient for them to stand on the staging of the section to be raised in adjusting its sides, and upon the staging of the adjacent sections in the lifting operation, relieving the intermediate section of their weight.
The parts forming this molding apparatus are of simple and strong character, and are designed to be readily and easily adjusted and operated.
I claim:
1. In wall-molding apparatus, a horizontal series of mold sections, means for securing each section of the series in position upon the completed portion of a wall being molded, and means carried by alternate secured sections in said series for engaging and lifting an unsecured middle section.
2. In wall-molding apparatus, a horizon tal series of mold sections, means for securing each section of the series in position upon the completed portion of the wall being molded, and cooperating means carried by alternate secured sections and a middle unsecured section for lifting the middle sec tion.
3. In wall-molding apparatus, a horizontal series of mold sections, means for securing each section of the series in position upon the completed portion of the wall being molded, and cooperating screw means carried by alternate secured sections and a middle unsecured section for lifting the middle section.
4:. In wall molding apparatus, a plurality of opposed side mold sections having transverse adjustable members connecting said sides, means for clamping each section upon the completed portion of the wall being molded, and means of vertical adjustment engaging the transverse members of adjacent sections.
5. In Wall molding apparatus, a plurality of opposed-side mold sections having transverse adjustable members connecting said sides, means for clamping each section upon the completed portion of the wall being molded, standards upon the transverse members of certain sections, and vertical adjusting screws engaging said standards, and the transverse members of acent sections.
6. In wall molding apparatus, a plurality of opposed-side mold sections having transverse adjustable members connecting said sides, means for clamping each section upon the completed portion of the wall being molded, removable standards adapted to be secured upon the transverse members of certain sections, and adjusting screws engaging said standards and adapted to engage the transverse members of adjacent sections.
7 A form for concrete structures made in sections arranged one alongside the other, supporting means held on the structure and engaging each section to individually fasten each section in place on the structure, and manually-controlled means for sliding an unfastened section on the adjacent fastened sections.
8. A form for concrete structures made in sections arranged one alongside the other, supporting means held. on the structure and engaging each section to individually fasten each section in place on the structure, manually-controlled means for sliding an unfastened section on the adjacent fastened sections, and scaffold brackets attached to each section and moving With the same.
9. A form for concrete structures made in sections in the form of plates arranged one alongside the other, transverse supporting and fastening members held on the structure and engaged by the said plates to support the plates individually from the structure and to temporarily fasten each plate in position on the structure, and manuallycontrolled means common to the abutting 15 ends of adjacent sections to permit of raising an unfastened section relative to the adjacent fastened section. y
